i think tattoos are great i actually have eight of them. i am a leo so i have that i was born in the year of the dragon so i have a dragon my husband calls me his sun his moon and his stars so i have those three tattooed also. i have a huge floral tattoo on my lower left back that also has the celtic word hope as i don't feel anyone can live with out that i have another smaller floral tatoo on my right lower back. when my father died i got a tattoo of an anchor with a banner through it with his initials as he was a proud and strong navy man. i am going next week to get my next tattoo which wll be a tribute to my on the way baby. I don't think tattoos hurt at all but i have been told i have an extremely high threshhold for pain so perhaps thats why i don't find they hurt at all. i have had friends though that jumped out of the chair ....so i guess its all in who you are but i would not recommend getting a "fad" tattoo like tweety bird or any cartoon character and if they realy don't have any special meaning to you i know you will regret them. hope this helps. also for those of you young ones who think that at the age of thirty you will be all wrinkled and your tattoo will look ugly i assure you thirty is the new twenty and you won't be all wrinkled and deformed.lol Also ladies planning on having babies i do not recommend getting a tattoo on your stomach because it will stretch and become distorted (i've seen it ...its not pretty). good luck guys and girls

Nope, I won't get one at all. I don't want anything poisoning my skin and plus it hurts getting it and taking it off. pinch.gif

Er....it doesn't poison your skin. Please read about tattooing before making assumptions. The only thing a tattoo could do to you is cause a skin reaction of your allergic to it which is extremely rare, get infected if you don't take care of it when you first get it, or if you go to a bad tattooing place and if they share needles then yes you can get stds, etc.

I do plan on getting one that has much meaning to me. Half the time people who regret getting tattoos is because they just run out and get one of something that doesn't have meaning to them. If you have any common sense then you should know to get something that has value to who you are.

personally I think anything on your skin is ugly, although I still draw on my hand anyway laugh.gif but then I regret it after wards. so ya, I think I'd deffinitly regret getting a tatto considering I don't even want one rolleyes.gif

I could totally see myself as a old wrinkly grandma with a tattoo =P I'd show it off proudly to my grand children. To me, getting a tattoo is a sort of "rights of passage" showing that I can overcome my fears and face them. I'm completely paranoid of needles, piercings, etc., so in a way it's facing my fears.

I'll be getting mine soon once I'm 18 meaning getting a tattoo is illegal in almost every state if your under age. I live in California and there is a lot of places that will illegally give an under age person a tattoo. I do not recommend going to those places, afterall, if they're doing that illegally what else are they doing illegally?

I'm excited but damn nervous! I mean, I got my ears pierced a few years ago and I thought I was going to die lol I was so scared.

P.S. to those who think tattoos are ugly-

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder =)

They look okay on some people I guess.. But I heard they can be really dangerous and if you don't like the way it looks and try to remove it you'll damage your skin even more.

I've suffered a lot of deaths in my life, of friends, and my dad and brother and recently, my best friend, so I went to the tattoo parlor and got a pretty big cross on my lower back, with roses wrapping around it, and angel wings on the sides. I didn't do it cuz it looks cute, I did it as a tribute, and I kinda wanted it to be private, I can't explain, so I did it on my lower back. yep.

One i have never ever heard  that you can not get an epideral. I know many people that have tattoos on their lower backs and they have never been told this. So i dont know where you heard that but i dont think its true. Because im pretty sure the tattoo place would have to warn you about this. I went with many of my friends for theirs and the place was a good clean respectable place, and there was never any warning of this. So i think that might be a myth.
And they do not burn forever. They dont ever burn. The first few days they itch but it goes away. You might want to have yours checked out cuz i think there is something wrong.

Rouge_ewok is right, in certain positions on your back you cant get an epideril because they will not risk peircing the tattoo or something like that. I went on a hospital tour of a maternity ward for a family living class and a couple girls with tattoos asked about it and the nurse said it was true, if it is high enough or low enough on your back it is okay, but if its anywhere in the region of where the epideral enters, they wont do it, just thought i should let people know in case they were hoping tropical dream was right happy.gif

If you do not keep your skin properly moisturized, the tattoo will burn since your skin is sensitive from the scarring. I even asked the tattoo artist, and my friends have all said the same thing.

Hmm, I'm thinking of getting a tattoo after I turn 18. Not sure of what yet, but either just behind my shoulder or on my hip.
