lol i was thinking about that when i bought my mini. on the little screen cover it said "Don't steal music." You really think that, since a regular ipod can hold over 25,000 songs, people would pay $25,000 to fill it up???? ($1 per song on itunes) That's nuts. Nobody that I know uses itunes and i don't blame them. it's a complete waste of money and if it wasn't for limewire, kazaa, imesh, etc., ipod would be a complete disaster.

You don't have to use the iTunes Music Store to get music for your iPod--you can rip music from CD's you already own, which cost money, too. Or, if you steal music, you can use stolen music on an iPod as well.

I don't get how iTMS is a "complete waste of money" though. If you like to actually buy your music instead of stealing it, it's a pretty good deal.

napster has a better plan to buy music though... fill up your ipod for 15 bucks a month instead of paying 1 dollar to each individual song. so i would stick to napsters plan. so thats like 10,000 dollars for a 20GB and what 30 bucks to get how many songs ...?

It sounds like a good plan until you cancel your subscription with Napster--and realize that you don't get to keep any of the music you "bought".

Wow... this is scary business, considering people nowadays just download songs from the internet. Imagine life without WinMX/Limewire and having to buy every single song from iTunes for a friggin dollar each. stubborn.gif

Music download was made illegal a long time ago, wasn't it? huh.gif

i dont reallly dl anything cuz think about it.. the place you are downloading from may have viruses.. it may not be perfectly safe. every single time you hit download thats like connecting ur IP address and then they CAN track you down. I have many friends who use limewire i say just risk it if you want the music but if u're afraid just buy it legally

Couldn't you just upload the music from your iPod to your computer, save it, cancel your subscription, and then put them back on your iPod?

No.

First of all, Napster doesn't even work with the iPod; but it's protected so you can't do stuff like that.

QUOTE(Lightner @ Jun 30 2005, 9:59 AM)
Im sure there are topics on this but, i have some new info from my dad XD so trustful eh? He said that a new law was passed, illegalizing music downloads off of sites, programs, and anything else. Itunes and relations will be only aloud ones. You can download off Limewire, except government has put up fake music for you to download, so then they have access yo your computer. When they do this they are able to get your ip then track you down easily.

So i reccomend you not use them. But i have downloaded tons of music off limewire.... it would suck if it was shut down and stuff. Is this true? You tell me because my dad told me and.... I dunno he could be trying to keep me from downloading music from limewire. But wasnt there a law trying to illegal LimewirE? But then it failed to pass? hmm..... and suggestions of thoughts?
*

The law passed was a law that sites such as supernova.com or ellitetorrents.org can be held responsible for providing links to illegal downloads.

I pay for Bear Share pro each month, its $3 a month. I keep all my music if I cancel and well I wont be anytime soon. Plus if I get a letter in the mail or a knock on my door all I have to do is hit the F12 key with my kill disk CD and they can sit and watch it all go away.

And its not like the FBI is gunna knock on your door for downloading a few hundred songs. There after the large BitTorrent downloader’s or people who download 100’s of songs a day like people in college on those fiber networks.

The Supreme Court ruling doesn't make it easier for the FBI to arrest people for copyright infringement; it makes it easier for private groups to sue users for copyright infringement in civil court.

Well if that is true than is there any reason the FBI took legal action against Elite Torrents, it should have been the MPAA or the RIAA that went after them. The servers where hosted in another country, why did the FBI shut them down as they did - they had no jurisdiction.

The FBI has jurisdiction, but the recent Supreme Court decision doesn't give them anymore; it gives private groups more rights to sue for infringement.

You do know that the FBI does not have jurisdiction in a communist country that would enforce the law themselves and would have take the sites down but ruled not to in court, agreeing that it was a violation of the internet privacy set by the Chinas government. The FBI has NO jurisdiction shutting down the server which was hosted in CHINA and the domain was not even bought through a US company. But hey, they'll do it anyway. And the Elite Torrents site will be up again in no time.

Now whats funny is that SuperNova.com can STILL OPERATE and screw people over by charging them for torrent downloads that don't work. And well the FBI would not do anything about that even though FRAUD is illegal. Whats funny is that the same company that bought suprnova.com does it all over the place. They buy the domain such as kazaa.com and take money payments from people who pay for illegal software. Hummm, maybe they should do something about that eh?

Here is a list of all the fraud software they use,
Exeem, exim, exeen, exeeem, exceem, exxem, exxeem, exxim kaaza, kaza, kazar, kazza, cazaa, kasaa, kazzaa, kaazaa, kazaam, kaxaa, kzaa, azaa, ksaa, kasaa, kaza-lite, kaza-light, kazza-lite, kazza-light, diet-kazaa, diet-kaza, kazaa-lite, kazaa-light, kaaza-lite, kaaza-light, k-lite, k-light, klight, klite, kazaaplus, morphus, morfeus, morphios, morphius, mopheus, morphesu, orpheus, gorkster, gokster, gokrster, gorster, groster, suprnova, supernova, sprnova, bit-torrent, bittorrent, bitorrent, torrent, torrents, bit-torent, win-mx, wimmx, winimx, win-nx, wim-mx, wn-mx, download-free-mp3, download-free-mp3s, download-free-music, download-free-movies, download-free-games, download-free-songs, download-free-software, download-free-videos, download-file-sharing, legal-mp3, legal-music, legal-songs, legal-movie, legal-song, legal-mp3s, legal-movies, paid-mp3s, paid-mp3, paid-songs, paid-music, buy-mp3, buy-mp3s, buy-songs, buy-music, lime-wire, laimwire, laim-wire, file-sharing-download, file-sharing-program, file-sharing-software, peer-to-peer-file-sharing, peer-to-peer, file-sharing-music, free-file-sharing, p2p-file-sharing, file-sharing, mp3-file-sharing, mp3-file-sharing-site, file-sharing-movie, shareasaa, shareazaa, sharaza, sheraza, suprnova

I'm not sure where this "community country" and "China" stuff is coming from. The FBI only executed warrants in the US, and the EliteTorrents.org webhost was located in the US.

EliteTorrents.org main hosting for the site itself, not the files was in the US. The file server and tracker was located in China and was hosted by a porn company. The site itself such as index and forum and junk where in the US. The star wars episode III file was hosted in another country. With this new law they would have had Jurisdiction to shut down the main site. But the server where the file was hosted is still not in the US.

As far as I know, the FBI did only seize the main server.
