I like the clarinet. I wish I picked that instead of the flute...*sigh*. Regrets.

To be honest, I hated clarinet for the longest time. I appreciate it now, but because I wasn't in love with it the first few years, I learned to also appreciate the other instruments.

...except saxophones. I hate saxophones.

AWESOME TOPIC!

Name:Joshua
Age:15
Status: Student(rank/section leader next year)
Grade:Sof.
Range:On a good day I can reach to a triple E, but I usually am around triple C
Trumpet: Still just a student horn sad.gif I'm getting a Bach Strad before summer band happy.gif
Mouthpiece:5C, but I might go 3c
School:Georgetown TX Eagles
Division: I think we're 5 A...not sure tho

I REALLY want to be at least rank leader next year, and I HAVE TO be section leader my senior year.

State competitions baby cool.gif

For those of you who don't know there is:

www.Marchingbandplanet.com

and

www.talesfrombandcamp.com

I didn't see them posted, so why not ^_^

My story is I almost quit 7th grade
then I was guilted to stay and they said I would rock
so I was going to quit 8th grade, definately.
NOT, they said I would be the perfect marcher, I was a pure natural, held my horn up, played loud, could walk and play at the same time, ect.
So, I decided to check it out. One more year, my freshman year. If I wasn't satisfied, I was gone.

I loved it, I got a cool nickname "The Hotness" for being one of the best marchers, topping the freshman easily and beating out some of the upper classmen (top 5 out of about 130). I liked how I had some band friends and I improved my playing faster than ever.

It was awesome, and I am now a band geek for it.

Courtney, clarinet, Elkins HS. I'm a sophomore, and I like marching season sooo much better than concert season.

^Exactly! And it's more athletic and fun. Not too mention football games are a total blast. Who doesn't like stand tunes and dancing crazily to drum cadences?

Totally! We always break out random solos during a stand tune, like taking thingsup octaves and stuff. When I was a n00b I just did hey song up an octave at the end. I might actually do a moving solo if I can get my music theory right.

we never talk to the other band

they're usually scared to come see us
and are like amazed at our awesome fieldshow
and beautiful sound...[lol]

well the only band we're social with is Walnut [the other hs in our district]

our band is at the end zone...and the visiting band is at the visitor stands
so like there isn't much buddy buddy thing going on

We're nice to all the other bands and feel good to socialize between competitors. Only one band ticks us off, and we aren't necessarily bitter toward them, they are just really conceded/ snobby.

But we coo, we coo.

Oh my-- I didn't know we were the only ones who danced. We made of dances to everything, even while we were playing. T'was fun, yes.
Hmm, did anybody do the: "Hey band...." "Whaat?" "This is so-in-so, and she's the drum major!" "YAY." We did that everygame and I loved it since I was section leader, which meant I got to introduce somebody too. YAY.

Speaking of tuba dances...I have secret aspirations of marching tuba in college. I know I don't look like your stereotypical tuba player, but gosh, they have sooo much fun. Plus, most of the guys who play tuba at the college I'm attending are hot. Hot band guys pwn, yo.

Are you talking about football games? In those, We can't socialize with other band. LOL they're all the way at the other side. And it's usually just the home school that has the complete band. The visitors MIGHT have a pep band, but usually, no.

i know a female tuba! we stole her band director. she played clarinet first too, actually

no, we're not very spirited. we're band geeky, but none of us care enough about the school to cheer for it. also, most people, like me, object to cheers, so even when we do the drum cheers, the whole band rarely participates unless forced.

did you ever do the "we got spirit yes we do/ we got spirit HOW BOUT YOU?" to the other band? we usually don't get into it enough to "win" but when we start it and the band doesn't or barely responds, we get passionately into it and go completely overboard *evil grin*

Ohh I see. For us, our district won't give us much money, our band dept. is in debt, so we can't spend $ on buses for games that we aren't required to go ermm.gif
