Are you by any chance going to the Elementary Bands Festival as guests? I have no idea what school you go to but i'm pretty sure you live in Vancouver...

Anyway, I play flute, alto sax and piano.

Actually, we're going to the Kiwanis music festival in Langley. I don't exactly live in Vancouver either, more like Burnaby. =p

Yay...finally, someone posted.

I'm going to try for section leader.  Well...I don't really have anymore to say to that, except I hope I can be section leader..haha.

Well, one of our drum majors had to move, and one's a senior, leaving only a junior.  I guess that means a lot of people are trying for drum major, so many that I don't even know.

Some of the people that want to try for drum major are kind of terrifying though.  As in they don't seem like the type to be a good drum major.  I don't know...

good luck! im not bothering, because i think i would be one of their last choices. seriously.

Aw...you should go for the experience. If you're one of the last choices, at least next year you would be a better candidate, with actual experience. And you can step out saying that you at least tried.

i thought about it, but no, seriously, i have no leadership qualities at all. if it werent band and the BDs werent painfully aware of this, i wouldve gone for the hell of it, but there is really no point

how cool! degeneres, you mean?

i finally found a roommate for band camp. whee

yesterday i walked in and the BDs asked why i wasnt registered for band next year. i knew id registered for the class, so i assumed they meant marching, even though the forms werent due till the next day, so i said "err i havent found a roommate yet..." (since you write those down on the intention forms). but they meant the class. but i really have no earthly idea why i wasnt registered for it because they definitely signed my form...i dont know. so i stood there confused and they said they put me in anyway, so its a good thing i wasnt actually trying to quit blink.gif

Really...because we have three. One is needed in the back, because sometimes, we don't face the audience. We have three sections (or pieces) of the show, so each drum major takes their turn in the middle...therefore, they are the ones to lead. It's so the pressure gets divided...because each drum major needs to practice more on the part where they lead.

lthis past year, all our back marching was only for a short amount of time, so we didnt need anyone back field, and then the year before we turned around a lot, but only once was it for a long enough period that someone had to conduct. they just got a sax player to run over and do it, then run back in to join the band, but she wasnt a drummajor or anything, so she recieved no actual credit, just conducted when we needed her.

our last drum major- who will be it again this year- is amazing though. she won our entire second competition, in which we got 6th
