I knew this would cause slight controversy [which is good at times], but I would like to know what religions you.... "dislike", or possibly you don't want to understand. Please also state why. It makes it dull if you just state the religion without an explanation. This should be interesting.

Basically all of them

I see it for people who need something to rely to get through life, rather than muster the strength to do it themselves. I don't need a contradictory storybook to tell me how to live.

Some people in this world shouldn't even be religious. They use it as an excuse for invading other peoples' lands, with grandiose illusions of an afterlife that can't be proven. They also use religion as a device for shielding their own ignorance and mental instability. What good are confessions when one can commit the same crime and repent several times over?

it's true that they use it as an excuse (example: iraq war). they still have a right to be religious, but they don't have a right to use it like that.

u know, I'm a Christian, and I don't run around and try to convert people. I also have no problem with gay people. One of my best guy friends is gay. I love him and would never judge him. But I can see why a lot of people have problems with Christians. I don't like a lot of Christians just becuase one of the aspects of Christianity is not to judge people, yet I see more Christians judging people and trying to "save their souls" when that goes against everything it stands for. I personally don't go to church, because there are too many hypocrites, I just beleive in Christ. Thats the way it works for me. i personally don't care much for Mormans, because every Morman I have met has tried to convert me. One guy I couldnt even say a sentance without "well can I read you something out of my mormon bible?" and I'd be like, can't we talk about something other than religion?? It really bugged me. But I still don't judge all Mormons. I think its unfair to generalize about a certain religion, because thats just as bad as being racist. Just like not all Muslims would fly a plane into a building, not all Mormons try to convert every person they meet, and not all Christians are hypocrites. Not saying there aren't some, but its not fair to generalise. I think people should beleive what they want if we all burn for eternity, or if there really is no heaven or hell, at least people might get along better.

your friends who are BUDDHIST

or, alternately, your friends who PRACTICE buddhism

why on earth do you have a problem with people using beads in a religion, out of interest? im ean, they are an aid to meditaion. its not like they try and lynch people with strings of beads...

welll.... i imagine because they believe the messiah hasn't come, for a start. and yes, i think its safe to say that your religious beliefs are somewhat influenced by your religion.

personally... evangelical religions, such as islam or christianity irk me. i dont wish to be saved, thank you. self righteousness bothers me. i frankly dont care if your going to heaven. please be quiet

i'm fine with most religions. but mormons scare me. no offense, but where i live (in taipei), there have been mormons who come up to me on the streets and block me from doing what i was doing to try and convert me to mormonism. people who are to extreme in religion are annoying.

mmm hmm me to -__-
Christianity is the only religion I know a fair amount about so I can't really say it's the only one I don't care for, also I'm surrounded by Christians 24/7 unlike people of other faiths which is most of the problam. it's mostly the people that really piss me off more than the religion itself, for a thousand resons I won't write here:dry:. And it's not like it's all of them of anything, it's the ones who constantly try to convert you and say you're going to hell and that are such horrible close minded bigits. Also christianity isn't what it was meant to be anymore. It's so comercial and a good christian is just someone who gose to church every sunday, not someone who is actualy a nice person and does good things for there community or somthing

........

Do you understand Islam very well?

I'm not quite sure why you said the Iraq war would be an example. I would appreciate it if you'll elaborate.

I don't dislike religion all that much, nor do I like it; I'm apathetic. People have their beliefs, and I have mine.

i don't know.
i don't like it when people try to convert me or tell me that their religion is right.
i always saw religion as sort of a crutch, used to make people feel secure about life

isn't buddhism a branch of ethicalism? it seems good and peaceful to me.

edit:
from my sociology textbook (and we just read about this today):

"...ethicalism is the belief that moral principles have a sacred quality. Ethical religions are based on a set of principles, such as truth, honor, and tolerance, that serve as as guide to living a righteous life. Some examples of ethical religions...are Buddhism, Confucianism, and Shintoism.. The goal for followers of ethical religions is to reach their highest human potential."

okay, so they're dedicating their lives to morality. doesn't sound so bad, does it? meh, i'm taking IB World Religions senior year, so i'll know more about this in a couple of years.

hm...Christianity because many people have tried to convert me as well. They just never listened. (And I'm not saying all Christians do this.)
and Islam. They say that Allah created the world a long time ago..blah blah blah..but their religion was invented not too long ago. They can be realistic at least. They copy the same ideas of other religions, especially Christianity.

I would definately have to say what I classify as neo-christianity.

I mean, wasn't the whole point of it.... during/a little after Christ's time to respect and help people of all beliefs, opinions, classes, etc.

If I am wrong, please do re-edit my belief, but a few hundred years after Christ's death, I think the name Christianity didn't really apply anymore. It was more of ignorance, self-centerism, and "saving" people.

The minds of people. -_-

Mmm. Christianity. Well, I don't really hate the religion...it just annoys me when some Christians go around saying " You'll go to hell if you're not Christian." stubborn.gif It just bugs me when hardcore Christians try to make everyone around them Christian.

I am gonna agree on the Christianity. My school has many "hardcore" Christians and they try to convert me all the time (I am not saying all Christians do though). They always say "you are going to hell if you are not christian."

What would you call a person who does believe in God, but doesn't follow a religion?

i'd have to say christianity. some christians are ok. but most i've met have tried to force their beliefs on me or condemn me for mine and the like. not all though. i can be friends with christians. one of my best friends is a superrrchristian, but he doesn't try to make me believe the same way as him or anything. it depends.

and i can't say anything about the jehova's (sp?) witnesses that come to peoples' doors cause i just think they're funny. laugh.gif
