anybody here play basketball? I started playing near the end of February cuz my friend got me to play ball n I got addicted to it..I can see progress the more i play/practice.

Does anybody have any tips that would help a new player tho? Like whenever I drive it in, I always get muff'd..lmao. Anyway to protect the ball while driving it in? Any help is appreciated. Or any exercises or drills that could help on ball handling?

I honestly used to hate basketball until my friend got me to try it n he helped me out. I guess u should try everything out, cuz u never know if u'll like it loll.

Sports Forum..

If you can't drive in, then just shoot long shots..those are easier to practice..

Dont just drive in, pass the ball move it on around. If theres a guy that gets up right in your face try rotating your body and look for the open man or just back off. Dont just dribble the ball wildly, try to keep it close. Good ball handling, you gotta have rythym man. You gotta be able to move your body, shake that thang hahaha lol. Usually for a newbie bball player driving in and getting under the post is not the best thign to start off with. Ball handling and passing it around is what you have to work with first.

LMAO

Anyways When driving in matain control. If you blow past the guy thats defending you and another guy trys to guard you that means that someone is open. You can kick it to the wing for a three or dish to the post man.

I have a 36 inch vertical so be sure to work on that as well. There r certain exercises which can be used to increase your vertical.

You need to learn cross-overs. It doesnt have to be any streetball moves. Just fake your opponent. Another tip, switch up your game. When you drive in, you might have to switch hands to keep from getting tossed.

I would say more but Im tired yawn.gif

Make sure your dribbling low to the ground, by or below your knees. Also make sure you switch hands if needed when driving in, not necessarily a crossover, because those can be tricky sometimes. Before you're driving in, if your opponent is really close to you, put one of your hands out and dribble with the other to shield the basketball.
Exercise drills-->definitely dribble the ball with one hand 50-100 times then dribble with the other hand the same amount of times. Try crossovers by yourself, imagining an opponent is right in front of you.
Hopefully something I just said will help.
