It doesn't matter to me. In fact, I prefer to have a small group of close friends. I get more attention that way...lol.

Lets put it this way...I'm not popular, but people know me. they know my name. then again at my school were like one big family. We dont put people in groups like on T.V. Sure there are other people who are known better than others, but it doesnt matter to me. As long as people know me

i've always wondered...what is popular? being hott? having boobs? dating the quarterback? you know....why would you want to be JUST those things when you could be all that......and smart.......popularity is gay. like i said in another comment of mine.....

labels are for soup cans.

popularity isn't important. As long as you have close friends you can rely on.

it's quality.. not quantity.

after all these years, i've realized that it doesnt matter. i'm not, but i was before (2nd grade, then 4th grade) and i realized after talking to popular ppl now, it doesnt really seem worth it to try to be cool all the time, look your best every single day, hurt/backstab your friends to keep yourself a float... no stubborn.gif and when i look at all the popular ppl, none of them seem to have any real friends

It honestly doesn't matter to me. I have friends from all different "groups." I go to a small school so everybody knows everybody else. I'm in the class with all the preppy/popular kids so I do socialize with some of them. But seeing what goes on in their group I dont think I would want to be a permanent part of it. I'm happy with my "status."

Well I hate the word "POPULAR" I like "well known"... but I am well known, I'm not slutty either. I mean seriously, I don't even go around making out with guys so yeah can't call me a slut. cool.gif I just have a variety of friends, and lots of them...yeah it's important to have alot of friends, and that's my deffinition of "WELL KNOWN/POPULAR"...

Allow me to sheepishly enter the the girls locker to put in my two cents.

I've been so popular that I knew hardly anyone and yet, everyone knew who I was. But being popular in the shallow, high school standard is being popular for all the wrong reasons. If people know you because of rumors (good or bad) then then you're not popular for what kind of person you are and it makes popularity utterly pointless and superficial.

Conversely, I've been that emo-black kid that chilled in the corner working on graffiti in my sketchbook, listening to underground 'conscious' hiphop on giant sony headphones and wearing nothing but hoodies and baggy jeans. No one knew me and for so long I was content with that. Until I started longing to be one of 'in-crowd.' One day, I became outgoing and regretted it ever since.

It all depends on what kind of person you are. From time to time, I still thrive on having so many people 'know' me. For the most part, though, it just annoys me. The popular people should be the philanthropists.

i'll talk to people if they're not popular or whatever, but i'd rather be popular than the other extreme.

is there such thing.. i mean popularity might be just in your point of view.. in how you envy a person or a group because you start comparing how what you have and what they have. If you go to a class and see u can definitely point out the popular person.. most likely the person with ppl surrounding them. it all those seems like s/he the person who fits in.. i dont really think popularity should matter.. and i guess it isn't really on my priorities of trying to be popular.

popularity is an interesting thing... thankfully though popularity isn't such a big thing at my school... after we all moved on from jr high to high school it was like... "wha? who is ----??!" x]

The popular girls at my school get all the attention and all the guys. I used to think that was all that mattered, but Im starting to see that if u actually have good friends, have good laughs, and have fun you dont need to be the coolest in school! I used to try really hard to walk around with them and talk to them. aha, ot didnt work and i felt like i was buttin intot their slutty fake lives. tongue.gif

i use to care about being popular but not anymore. because i am getting very close to leaving high school, so my focus is on myself and those who are close to me. because after everyone graduates no one will see each other anymore. you feel me? so why care about what other people think. it wont in any way help you later on in life. so to answer the question it does not matter to me.
