^x2 I, for one, have never complained about a report that actually contains something that needs to be fixed. I've received reports about topics that need to be closed before, and I don't see the problem with them. Don't assume we all feel the same way.

And besides, the report page doesn't say anything about the problem having to be big or important.  Anything that goes against the Community Guidelines, basically, can be reported.

The only time mods get pissed off at reports is when people give us REPLIES to a topic or just irrelevant reports.
*

so can i report those quite very annoying signature size violations?

can i report spam in threads, etc?

becuase the thread that said 'don't use report' said that mods will find the thread before they get your report anyways, so don't use report unless a member is actively bashing, etc.

From what the report form says, you may report anything that violates Community Guidelines. If we're going to change the rules, we'd have to change the rules on the report form also.

I'm pretty sure we'd much rather like your help than have us "find" it by ourselves later, by which time people will start bitching at us.

As for annoying signature size, PM admin, because other mods can't do anything about it.

QUOTE(Kathleen @ Nov 29 2004, 7:22 PM)
Okay, on behalf of Kim (lookitskim) and I, I'd like to ask that you don't report minute problems you have. I mean, if there's a topic that needs to be closed, then okay, we shall close it. We'll catch it before your e-mail reaches us. It's just so bothersome and it makes my eye twitch simply because it can all be saved. That's why we have moderators - there's no need to tell us what to do. The little 'report' button is only there if a member is continuously doing something wrong that no one has seen yet. Okay? I know there's probably more, but I'll add it soon when it comes to me.

--Edit
Also, when you press 'report', you're not posting in the topic. You're actually sending me and Kim and e-mail. stubborn.gif

[edit]

And also.. i would like to add to Kathleen's post. please only hit the report button if there is bashing going on or someone who is simply bashing you. Or someone who is being very immature throughout the forums. There's no need to report a thread that needs to be moved/closed or whatever. We get too many reports reguarding those 2 that i just mentioned. So please do us a favor and let the moderators do their jobs.
Thank You!
*

so i guess i can just ignore that post, right?
i mean, that announcement in no way discourages members from pressing the report button.

^ Hmm, well that was posted a while ago. The mods should have a discussion about it. The thing is, I don't even get that many relevant reports anymore. I don't think it would be a problem for me to receive a few more reports a week about closed topics. I'm not sure about the other mods, though.

I think you shouldn't report the post/topic IMMEDIATELY it was made, and wait a while for the mods to find it. If it starts building up some spam, or it's taking a while, then report. Sounds reasonable?

..I haven't gotten a report in ages - reply or report.

Personally I find the replies/reports amusing. cool.gif I agree w/ Gigi; I wouldn't mind more relevant reports, or even PMs about a thread. My PM box is always open.

This forum is not exactly operated in the same hierarchy as other forums. While other forums have a individual mod-per-forum system, this one doesn't.

It means that the people who want to be mods have their wants taken into consideration, rather than just appointing them for a forum that needs to be covered. That's nice at least, even if it doesn't work for efficiency all too well.

I guess it all works out okay... I remember people leaving due to Mod issues, but eh... they're not perfect but they're trying (I hope ) wink.gif

Wow...that's pretty closed-minded of you. As mods, aren't we supposed to improve the forums instead of covering up the problems with a quick fix? By "complaining" about these so-called spam topics, we are trying to prevent this from happening, hence creating a better createBlog. Closing them down doesn't stop it.

It's like saying, I'm a policeman, and if I see anyone with drugs I'll take them away. But you know, it's not like I'm going to stop them from getting the drugs in the first place, because it's my job to take the drugs away. I could care less where they get the drugs, I could care less about how to help the society, I'm just going to take them away and pretend nothing happened.

It just doesn't make sense.

susan. it isnt the mods job to clean up your messes. and yes i say you, specifically, because i know you only posted that because people always complain about your topics. no one wants to become a mod just to close a million topics everyday. that's tedious, and could be unnecessary if people like you would just stop spamming all over the place.

the mods actually have jobs OTHER than closing topics, which are MUCH more important. they dont want to, and SHOULDNT HAVE TO, spend all their time holding your hand and picking up after you because of your blatant disrespect for the rules.

spamming is against the community guidelines. as a member, it is your job to respect those guidelines. if you're not going to do that, then why are you here? just to piss everyone off?

Because not only do we have to close the topic, we need to continuously remind the idiots who spam to read what the community guidelines says about spam. We complain because we close tons of spam topics each day and a lot of the time, these spammers never learn regardless of how many times we tell them or how many topics we close.

As a mod, our job is not only to close spam topics, we have many other responsibilities as well. We didn't become mods so we could clean up after you, we became mods because we feel that we want to contribute to the community.

most of the annoying reports come from xanga skins cause people apparently ALWAYS think the report button means reply..even when we've done all we can to make it clear..

and seriously guys, we don't just go around complaining about every little nit-picky thing. there's stuff that goes on, stuff you guys don't see..we don't just go around closing topics all day. and you expect us to be on like 24/7? and then you guys make topics complaining about homework and stuff? um, GUESS WHAT??? we have homework too! and friends! and lives! we can't just sit on createblog ALL DAY cleaning up after people who break the rules ignorantly when they're clearly stated. we have other things to do.

i'd like to see some of you try being great mods, or at least, the mods you're expecting us to be.

the question that the entire people staff mods those forums has already been answered, but i would also like to add that i am constantly in the entertainment forum, and recently fashion as well, and doing a pretty decent job of it. also, im in there a good deal more than you, so you shouldnt be too cocky when youre not even necessarily correct

throughout this thread, some people are replying saying that we need more mods...how can that be true? we have 30! yes, 30!!
i can understand wanting more for blogger considering we only have like 5 but other than that, i think we are just fine. if people would actually read the rules and follow them, than i think that we would probably have too many mods! wacko.gif

and, personally, i think that people are just saying that because they want to be a mod. and not even for the right reasons.

only 13 people staff tho, add in head staff and you get 15 mods. xanga/blogger staff don't have power over community forums, and admin don't usually have time to do the mod jobs.

btw i got like 4 IMs telling me off because i "cant possibly put myself in a mods position" so i should "stop talking like i know shit" because i'm not a mod.

newsflash: i was a mod before half of the people currently on the staff. and i have my own forum as well.

Lakers... hell, they could if they actually start making some smart decisions, get rid of Odom, Crapkins and Grant.. smart trades like Boozer and shit like that, do somethign good in the draft... look what you made me do!! Back to the damn subject

If all your gonna do is watch Entertainment and Fashion forum then theres no point in you being people staff.
