They didn't have absolute proof she was braindead. I think they should have determined that for sure, and if she was in fact brain dead, I don't think they should have kept her alive, but I also don't think they should starve her, that is kind of inhumane, brain dead or not, and it's also kind or cruel to the parents.
But I also think if the guy is living with the other girl, he should of just divorced terri, so her parents could have her and keep her alive if they wanted to, because if she is brain dead, what is it hurting really? |

She was, infact, brain dead. Meaning she could NOT feel herself being starved. That part of the brain was dead, for f**kin 15 years. It is not inhumane because she felt no pain. And, it was the only legal way to let her die. Also, her husband could not divorce her because she was BRAIN DEAD. Meaning should could NOT talk to him or SIGN the papers. And who is it hurting? It was hurting the husband. |

Yeah I read like the first four pages of the thread. I should have read the whole thing. But I read a news article the other day that said they did not know for sure exactly how much of her brain was damaged, and what exactly she could feel. My apologies.
I'm not saying there was much if any chance of her recovering, though if she wasn't completely brain dead(basing this on the I guess incorrect article) she might have, but, there had to have been some way he could divorce her. Or he could have transferred her custody or whatever you would call it over to her parents and they could both be happy. |

Why would you want her parents to have custudy?? All they would have done was just keep her alive when she obviously was dead. She could not feel a thing, that part of her brain died 15 years ago. That is when her parents should have let go.

It was proven and many doctors agreed that she would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER recover. Her parents just needed to let go.

We have to write a timed essay on this in my college English class. Joy. I am so sick of this case.
Another I am sick of is how so many people assume that the Christian position was against pulling the tube. Whenever I debated this with somebody they would almost always say something like 'but you're Christian!' Yeah, so? My dad wanted her tube removed too, and he is an ordained pastor in three different denominations. She was brain dead. I don't even believe her soul was there any longer. Yeah, I do believe God could have brought her back if he wanted. I believe he could still bring her back. But that is no reason to keep her alive. If God wants her alive then a little thing like a feeding tube being removed would stop him. So, yeah, I'm weighing in, even though she is dead. |

QUOTE(Ballpointpencil @ Apr 4 2005, 9:16 PM) ![]() They were trying to use their religion to gain custudy, that is why I brought it up. Also, you do know she is dead right? Obviously God cannot "bring her back" if she is gone. |

QUOTE(sadolakced acid @ Apr 5 2005, 2:13 PM) Well in that case, I expect to see her cremated body back into tip-top shape ASAP. edit This is for lolthissiteisfunny: "Terri Schiavo, 41, died Thursday after the removal of the feeding tube that had kept her alive since 1990, when she suffered brain damage that court-appointed doctors determined had placed her in a persistent vegetative state. Her parents had fought in court to keep her alive, disputing the doctors' opinions and saying there was hope of improvement." ~Taken from Yahoo News This post has been edited by xxcrazyjewxx: Apr 5 2005, 05:12 PM |

heh i was born in 1990......
that's why i think it was ridiculous to keep her alive that long. she's been kept on a feeding tube as a vegetable for as long as i've been alive. |

This is for the people who claim she was brain dead:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...amaged_woman_92 She was, in fact, brain damged. Parts of her brain was dead but not all of it. |

I have a few questions:
What's the difference between Schiavo and the Pope? Why did he get a feeding tube when she didn't? He was near death any ways. Isn't this cruel and unusual punishment to let someone starve to death? You might as well give her lethal injection, right? Why wasn't she in her parent's custody? Who would love you more - your husband who wants to remarry or your parents|siblings? |

Removing the tube is just as watching her die. Slowly die.
Isn't that more inhumane than just pulling the plug, so that she does not have to 'survive' that long? Remove the tube and let her parents watch her slowly waste away? It's almost torture, just pull the plug... |

Sorry. So does this case mean that abortions should be legal? Cos, 'she was a vegatable' translates to : she wasn't being productive. Well, a unborn baby isn't doing anything either... That's not the point. This was the dumbest thing ever. The court should have let her live. Murderers. |
