I apologize for being the assumed 'tree-huggin hippie' by posing this argument but allowing certain species of animals to roam the earth isn't something I'm opposed to. I'm much more against the senseless mass murder of steers than I am those same steers walking around the plains of Texas, minding their own business.

With the sermon, I was simply supporting the statement with esoteric that certain people can relate to. See, I don't think it's just a shark. To you, maybe. Yes. Sharks like hammerheads and great whites attack their prey by charging it once or twice then disappearing while the victim bleeds to death. The shark then returns to feed. The bigger the meal, the longer it lasts. A full grown sea lion, for example can last a shark 2-3 months. Discovery Channel will get ya.

shark hunting needs to be regulated (it already is, but better) like whales were. If a shark is caught, all of it should be used.

the problem with fin hunting is the same problem that happened with tusk hunting and elephants.

however; regulation will not help that much, cultural changes are needed.
many far-eastern cultures eat shark fin soup; however, there are ads in these nations trying to curtail the consumtion of shark-fin.

the reason why sharks cannot be over-hunted is becasue they are an integral part of the food chain. if an overhunting were allowed, it would be akin to removing the wolves from yellowstone.

first of all...sharks do not try to "eat" us. they simply mistake us for sea lions and stuff and when they take a bite and realize you dont taste like sea lion, they'll let you go.

Food is food. Personally, I could eat after being in a slaughterhouse or even while being in one. It's natural. I see no reason to feel ashamed or sick. Why should I?

...Anyway I think the killing of sharks to take thier fins is wrong. Like someone stated before, the shark's fin is cut off while the shark is still alive and the rest of the body is thrown back into the ocean. It's cruel and unnecessary.

Sharks dont eat us thats right. They smell the blood and think of us as food mistaking us for their original prey.

i had shark fin soup before.. i dont really remember what it tasted like... well sharks dont eat us on purpose unless you bother it with it;s territory...but its like us eating chicken, fish,duck, and w/e...

Were not talking about Jaws here or that other Shark movie. Were talking about actual Sharks, once they take a bite out of us and realise we are not what they want they will just let us go.

A lot of animals are highly endangered and there are still cultures out there hungting and eating them. It is cruel how they get the Shark fins, they might as well kill the damn thing and eat the rest of it. If it doesn't have its fin, how the hell is it gonna survive?

It is cruel, at the same time it is "human nature." Its the way of life, animals hunting other animals, us ourselves as humans are just another breed of animal life. We hunt and eat others to survive as do the rest out there.

if sharks could be farmed, and only the farmed ones were killed, then it woudl not be inhumane.

if i went vegetarian..i would turn anorexic. im 90 pounds, 14, and 5'8. its for health reasons.

its inhumane because what they do is, they kill a shark just for its fin. sometimes, they just cut the fin off, and throw the shark back into the water.
