We've all been talking about what's your favorite or the worst anime/manga. But why do you like anime/manga? Or possibly...hate it?

The reason I like anime is because of the art most of the time. The eyes are what catch me. The other thing that makes me like anime is because of the story line. It is complex and the characters most of the time develop along with the plot. rolleyes.gif

I guess I like anime because of the plot and how the characters are drawn.

I love how they draw eyes. It's so...pretty!

I like anime, because, like most japanese things, it was copied from the american(well, western) form and made better. Not only does anime have better drawings, they have stories, that are just like one from a book(no wonder why people call manga "graphic novels" XD). Also, there are a lot of genre out there, so there is a wide group of people that read manga, and watch anime.

American cartoons have degraded over the years, and are either cheap copies of Japanese anime, really horribly drawn, or just no good story plot if there is one in an american cartoon.

Watching anime is like reading a book filled with interesting twists and surprises. Many plots has substance, or at least, more so than the normal saturday morning cartoon.

For those that think they're pointless, do you guys like watching cartoon at all?

HOT DAMN. More than a year ago! Haha. I was such -- no wait, I'm still a loser.

I love the art. Whenever I compare it to American cartoons, the American cartoons look disgusting. I hate how CN and Nickelodeon choose to take on gross-looking shows. I mean, remember the close-ups in Ren & Stimpy? Yeah, they were a BIT too close.

Somehow, the cultural differences shine through, too. I find it interesting to watch anime, because in a way it's like getting an inside look into Japanese culture.

Why?

Because most [good] animes/mangas pull you into their story and make you go into their own world. The animation is really amazing, and looks a million times better than American cartoons would ever look like [like Naomi said].

I love this topic. and zomg, I can't believe someone resurrected this topic. Kudos to the person who resurrected my topic! XD.gif

Well, it's been a long time, so let me expand on why I like anime, because I found even more reasons. :o Recently, I became more and more attracted to the storylines and the character devlopment in most animes I have watched.

The stories are so far-fetched and yet so reasonable! I mean cartoons usually have far-fretched plots. However anime takes the idea of plots/storylines that are..extreme and putting it in the catergory for [young] adults.

The characters are extremely loveable too. They make cute faces, hilarous lines... it's just awesome.

The animation is beautiful too! Though the facial expressions aren't realistic most of the body features (sometimes depending on how ecchi the author is <__<) and movement is really realistic. Anime takes childish entertainment to the adult section yo xD

Graphic novels came after manga, I hope you know. Japan copied comic books, but they wanted more substance. Americans thought that was a good idea so they copied that. That's your random fact of the day.
----
Question... Ouestion... I like anime because I, unlike all of you, can't watch very much else. I literally have to get permisson from my parents for every cartoon I watch. So I end up with no shows like Ed, Edd&Eddy (which my dad finds offensive) to warp my mind. I get shows like Pokemon, Kimba and Astroboy instead. Plus, live action never really amused me either. Why should I care if Carla cheated on Sammy with Mark and got pregnant? I do, strangely, care if Miwako cheats on Arashi with Hiroyuki. =3 Different engagement, I suppose. Maybe because all those creepy dramas were just that. Creepy dramas... Except with anime, it's more realistic because the characters aren't that overblown (discount anime made for the sole purpose of being overblown here!). And then when you can do an entire 360 across the spectrum.... From serious to entirely mindless and crackheaded. It takes a lot of reality out of reality.

I like it cuz my mom hates it. She thinks its called anime because it lacks movement so doesn't have the privilege of the whole word "animation".

I love anime because there are different types for all ages. Usually, when you hear the word "cartoon", you think of a childish show full of kooky characters and happy-go-lucky situations. But the thing with anime is that, even though it can be considered a "cartoon", theres a show for kids, a show for adults, a show for teens - shows for any age.

I also really like the style of drawing, and some of the music is amazing. biggrin.gif

My top 20 reasons

1) Dif. Style of Animation
2) Japanese
3) Cool HAIR!
4) Better stories (not all but alot)
5) Perfect music choice
6) henta ......... ecchi! :swifty:
7) It doesnt do the "only for kids" label. Anime actually broke that statement. Its for anyone!
8) High fantasy level
9) Alot more intresting to watch
10) Shoujo (yeah thats right! Shoujo!)
11) GIANT ROBOTS!!!!!!!!
12) More open than American cartoons
13) Nice Eyes
14) Better voice acting (even though i prefer dubs :P)
15) The facial expressions
16) Better drawn and colored
17) Cool looking impossible moves! (jumping high, running on water)
18) Better drawn environment and scenes
19) The way they make things alot more hyped up than it is (Alchemy, Card Games, Spritual calling, even friggin tops!)
20) Girls! Girls! Girls! (admit it! cartoon girls looks better anime)

:D

Then why are you posting here? If you dislike anime, then don't you have soemthing better to do with you time than to post here?

I like it alot. I love the Japanese language and thier style of drawing. The eyes are amazing.

Dont worry about her post. she's the pointless one posting in a forum where it clearly asks "why do you LIKE?" anime and posts without reason why its pointless. It was a 4 months old of a post so shes probably gone.

I love anime for the creative plots, the characters, and of course their eyes. I guess you could say it gives me a different look on reality sometimes. It's definately more interesting then reading books. At least that's what i think _smile.gif
