Face it... we're carnivorous.

Sharks eat humans, humans eat shark fins. Eh, what to do?

Why specifically shark fins?

I guess I'm neutral about it. Probably something I wouldn't try when I'm sober. wink.gif

it's over-hunted...

sharks are caught, their fins cut off, and then the carcasses thrown back in the ocean, to make room for more fins.

it's causing a decline in the shark population.

Excuse me for posing the vegetarian argument, but, eating meat period is humane if put into perspective. Animals are bread, slaughtered by the masses and then served up for someone else to eat? That sounds a bit inhuman to me. People make exceptions because as human beings, we generally eat certain types of red and whte meat (steak, chicken, fish, etc) and the fact that humans are atop the food chain is a cause for justification.

Still, if we can survive and grow strong off of fruit and vegetables (and soy, holla!) alone, then why not switch to a more healthy and more human diet? I watched Super Size me and practically vomitted midway through, and I don't have a weak stomach. I'm not going to sit up here and tell everyone carnivore on this forum that they are wrong for not becoming a vegetarian/vegan but do yourself the favor of visiting a slaughterhouse. Then, eat meat shortly thereafter, you'd change your mind.

I believe eating sharkfins is inhumane as well as catching sharks to begin with. So what a shark ate a surfer? The shark was there first, you were in its territory. Ya shouldn't have been there. Tough.

I don't understand... haha, you people who said it's good do know that shark fins are tasteless right? The soup acquires its taste from broth... usually, it's chicken broth.

If we choose to defy our nature and change our ways, then wouldn't our nature then become what we've changed to?

Oh, so it's culture for fisherman in Seattle to decide to bait and mutilate sharks? Thats one sick culture. If you're referring to a less advanced tribal society in the micronesian that eats sharks, then I understand. But, if you're referring to Americans, then you should rethink that statement.

Oh, but we can. Every nutrient found in meat is found in fruits and vegetables.

And for all of you Christians unsure of this argument, here's a nice lil' quote for yous.

Isaiah 66:3

He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

If no human ate meat, some species of animals would overpopulate the Earth. But that's a whole other debate.

thanks for the sermon but man dont go there with the regilious point of view, its just a shark, it doesnt need to get that deep. Though I did find the part about burning incense interesting, i burn incense all the time. And are sharks we are talking about about endangered or something?
