They say that Terri still recognizes her family members and what not. So, she's still alive. Just because she's not "feeling" anything, they're going to let her die. If you're going to let her die, give her lethal injection. But no - that's illegal. So, instead of giving her food and what not and letting her die on her own, she has to starve to death?

It's completely stupid. Why can't the parents and siblings just take care of her like they want to?

Technically its not up to the parents. The decision is left with her husband... besides, her parents had 15 years to do something about it but they had done nothing. Shes not comming back.. just ler her go.

the fact that she is still smiling shows that no one is home (she's braindead0

if you were starving and dying of thirst, and you could actually think, would you be smiling?

yea shure if your poor and you starve its natural. but she does NOT have the ability to pull the plug on her own. i mean shes in a bed and cant move. tell me how its natural
*

well then, how do you say we kill her? there isn't another way. it's nautral because this is what would happen if we didn't have the technology like feeding tubes and such. it's just letting her body do what it would normally.

QUOTE(smile4me @ Mar 26 2005, 1:47 PM)
another thing...terri can breathe.
there has been evidence saying that she can respond to moving objects.
if there is contradicting evidence, i think they should keep the tube in until everything is sorted out.
*

those movements are reflexive- she doesn't control them.

obviously because there is hope that jesus and god will save her...DUH

inject her with something . or give her something so she can die fast. not through torture. people will still kill her either way. if i took your grandmothers feeding tube and took it out she would die, if i inject her with something she can die. either way i will get charged for murder. i dont see why is it so difficult to kill someone with all the technology we have. starving her is so cruel.

she's not being tortured! THE PART OF HER BRAIN THAT FEELS PAIN AND LETS HER THINK DOES NOT WORK. how can people not grasp this? yes, if YOU removed my grandma's feeding tube (if she had one) you would be charged with murder, but it's not murder because her guardian is allowing it. and the whole injection thing is not legal, so why even suggest they do that? denying her of food is not cruel- it's the only way it can be done, and it's not like she feels anything anyways.

^she has been in a vegetable state for like 15 years, she can't respond to anything and is not in pain because she is brain dead.
a. he is probably paying all the bills still dumbass
b. her family won't let her go, she has been brain dead for f**kin 15 years, she is not going to just snap out of it.
c. the woman said that if she was ever in that state, to just let her go and die naturally.
i doubt they are covering the costs and hellllllo she has been brain dead for a long ass time.
i cannot believe the parents are trying to take this to the supreme court. the goverment has NO right getting involved. the parents need to move on and let their daughter go! she has been a veg. for like what 15 years? her husband keeps trying to take her off the life support but her parents keep bringing him to court and wont let him!

for serious, let the woman die peacefully.

i agree. doctors say that she has completely no mentality anymore. what's the point of her living anyways, she's basically half dead, and she won't suffer. terri's parents keep on arguing that terri will go to hell if they pull out the feeding tube since she's allegedly "commiting suicide." 15 years ago, she was basically playing with suicide by being a bulimic, oh yes, terri was such a devout catholic.

I wouldnt say she was playing with suicide. I'd say 'waiting for an accident'. Also, is there any proof she was bulimic?

it was in the news that she had been bulimic for quite a while which was what led to her potassium imbalance that caused her to become a vegetable.

^ pretty sure she became a vegetable from having a heart attack with limited the amount of oxygen to her brain, which caused brain damage.

a potassium imbalance causing brain damage?

how would that happen... potassium is needed for nerves and such to work... but... a lack of them would cause widespread shut-down of nervous activity that would be restored when the potassium balance was restored...

yeah. apparently..they had to go with the husband. I think she's dead now, or will be soon.

She didn't leave a will of what she would want to happen or anything..but the husband has the choice over her parents on what will happen...and the husband claims that she said she would never want the feeding tube thing. but thats all I know about the case. My teacher said that the doctors had said if they waited a little longer, she'd be able to speak. I don't see why they didn't keep her on it a little longer so she could make her own choice..but I odn't know very much about the case, so my opinion isn't very established..

I say just pull the damn plug and end her suffering. Her family is ridiculous for keeping her alive. she cant do anything for herself but they are still keeping her alive. I say they should listen to the husband, pull the plug, and let her end with her suffering.

what i've heard is she was bulimic, which caused the potassium imbalance, which caused her heart to stop beating or cut off the blood flow to it, which caused the brain damage.

now that's the right order there...

(i not saying if it's right or wrong)

but the potassium imbalance would cause heartfailure... ok. makes sense now.
