do you think i just got myself into a big episode of drama by going out with a senior [my first boyfriend] who is basically my best friend? he is going to college next year and i said, one day you're going to jail. and he said why? and i said for breaking my heart. and he said when will i break your heart. and i said when you leave for college. and he said well i hope that day where i break your heart never comes. and i said, me neither.
has anyone had a boyfriend who is a senior [i'm a junior] and got their hearts ripped out because of college. i mean we hang out more than anyone i know, i just think college.. will i dont know, break us up. maybe i am overreacting? |

no. my friend's dating a guy 3 years older than her. he just graduated last year and he's in 1st year college now. and they've been dating for like 2 years.
it all depends on the level of commitment, and what the other expects of the other. like if you expect him to visit everyday. that's probably not possible because he has school and stuff. so yea... but reasonable. if ya know what i mean. |

it's okay. relationships are better when you get to see eachother outside of school.

He's only a grade above you, so I don't see how it's a big issue, even considering the fact of college.

well my friend's sister is currently a senior now, and her boyfriend's in college. they've been dating for a long time, ever since her boyfriend was still in highschool. The relationship's still continuing and such, and they're very happy. So i agree with the aboves, it just takes the commitment.

i don't think your relationship will be ruined when he goes to college. if he likes and cares about you a lot, he won't do stupid shit when he gets to college. dont start thinking negative about it, think positive. yeah, sometimes you cant always think positive but still, dont think that you two will break up just because of college.

you know what? im going through something like that right now. i've been talking to this senior who i.. really wanna be with but he's gonna be leaving in two months. im not really sure if i should go out with him because of this. it's a guarantee that i'll be hurt some day down the line, purposely or not. even though i'm a junior and will be graduating soon, i dont even think we'll be in the same state....

Yeah, I'm a junior and my boyfriend's a senior. But if your relationship is a serious one, then you'll get through that one year. My boyfriend only applied to colleges in the state and city to be closer to me (!), so that's how we're going to deal. Just talk to him about colleges if you're really afraid about that. And besides, next year you can apply to the same college he's at.

QUOTE(someflipguy @ Mar 22 2005, 11:38 AM) LOL! well it's highly unlikely that you would have married him anyway... i guess you can still keep a distant relationship (because he's going to college... busy with exams...) it depends how strong your bond is. hope it works out ![]() o and i'm also going through something like this... my crush in in 9th (i'm in 8th) and he's going to high school next year... so i'm gonna miss him ![]() ![]() |

And besides, next year you can apply to the same college he's at. If you two are hanging out as often as it's sounding like you two are a little distant and space can help the relationship. Through the experience and the stories I've been told; people tend to get tired, bored to be exact, with their significant other after spending too much time together. People often forget that they once had a live of their own before that special someone came along. Just because they're here now doesn't mean you still can't. If this doesn't work out, you'll live. In all reality high school relationships usually don't. College is the time where you really start to experience new things and meet new people. People often mistaken their high school relationships for the real thing and they are set on that. You have to keep in mind there are so much more growing that hasn't happened yet. Temptation that some aren't strong enough to deny. AND, that suggestion of applying to the same college as him. I don't recommend that, simply because if things don't work out you'll be stuck at the college that wasn't really fit for you. Choosing a college should be a solo choice. |

I concur, it's either the distance or cheating that will break you apart.
Do you actually think he is going to remain faithful when there are tons of hawt chicks in college? No. |

I don't know, I've never dated a girl older than me.
I also don't know because I'm still in 8th grade, and no one goes to college in 8th grade. Hm... But I doubt it will ruin your relationship, unless he isn't as commited to you as you think he is. |

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
![]() You make it seem as if you want him to feel guilty for graduating and going to college. It's not his fault. Either youc an deal with a long-distance relationship or end it. |
