I don't have a strong opinion on this either, but from what I understand in ancient times, everything was written in reference to males. So if you read any written documents that was made pre-14th century, everything is refered as He...

What does it matter. It says it in the bible, so supposedly its from a higher entity then ourselves. I wouldn't want to change the bible if it said God was a female. God is God and what difference does it make?

Some people just don't know when to fight and when to shut the f**k up.

By the way, I'm Jewish. Not Christian.

Even though most people call God male, God is supposed to be neither. Because only animals and plants have 2 different genders. (Us humans, being animals/mammels. The only difference is that we have free will.) And God is not an animal and a plant. He's God. SO God can't be male and God can't be female.

And if God was male, who gave birth to Jesus Christ. A WOMAN!! So God loves women just as much as men. God doesn't favor.

I completely agree. I don't want to let this sort of stuff get in they of my faith. No matter what he/she is, God still loves you no matter what gender you are. God can't hate something he/she created and then had given it life.

And God created woman and she had 3 breasts. He then asked the woman "Is there anything you'd like to have changed?" She replied, "Yes, could get rid of this middle breast?" And so it was done, and it was good. Then the woman exclaimed as she was holding the third breast in her hand, "What can be done with this useless boob?" then God created man.

QUOTE(Spud @ Feb 6 2005, 9:00 AM)
In the beginning of time, God created Adam. If you read the bible, it says Adam was made in God's image:

Genesis 2:7 "The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into is nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

For that very reason, is why people refer to God as a man.

During junior deacon classes/training, an elder at my church told me and two other girls, when we asked about feminism in the Bible, that God is neither male for female.
*

That is exactly how i feel about the situation. I wasn't rasied to view God as male or female. I view God as a spirit. I really don't like to associate God by Him or He because I don't view God as having a genitalia. I prefer to call God ... a spirit, holiness. Because, in a way, that is what God is. _smile.gif

What she said.

If you want to debate about the existence of God in a rational, supported way, please go to that topic. As for this one, please limit opinions to God's gender.

Well I've never posted on any of these, but this one caught my attention. Earlier someone said that God created MAN in His own image, so don't you think God has to be a man? (Duh)... then God, (being the all-powerful God that he is) Took a rib from Adam, and created woman. Genesis 1:27-So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. And if you try and contridict the Bible, then you are just dumb... but whatever you want to believe... everyone will be judged in the end.

We're well aware of the fact that the Bible uses "He" and "Him" to refer to God. There's no need to restate it. Read the damn posts.
