Click on thumbnailed images to enlarge

[1]Open up a 300x100 blank box in GIMP.
[2]Chose the text tool & click on the box. Then, set your options & type your text.
[3]Click on the Script-Fu drop down menu on the right.
[4]Hover over the second option, which is titled Alpha to Logo.
[5]Click on the third to last option named Starburst.

[6]Set your options on how you want the text to look & click.
Your image should now look something like the one below.

[7]If you wish, you can stop here or continue. If you would like to add brushes in the background, continue reading.
[8]Click on the Dialouges drop down menu & click on Layers.

[9]Right click on the second to last layer titled Background #1 & select Delete Layer.
You may need to merge down another layer after this one.

[10]Add your brushes & save your image.
