[size=2]EDIT: THIS TUTORIAL WAS WRITTEN AWHILE AGO, BEFORE HOSTIMA TURNED INTO AN ADVERTISING SITE. I NO LONGER RECOMMEND USING THEIR SERVICE FOR PUTTING A RADIOBLOG ON YOUR XANGA. READ THROUGH THE THREAD FOR OTHER PLACES THAT HAVE FREE HOSTING, OR LOOK IN [url=http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14636]THE BIG BOOK OF RESOURCES[/url] UNDER "FREE HOSTING."[/size]

(this is being resubmitted as asked)

this tutorial will show you how to put a radioblog onto your xanga.

1) go to www.radioblogclub.com.

2) download the radioblog by clicking the link on the main page.

3) when asked to open, save, or cancel, select save.

4) browse through your hard drive until you find where you want the files to download. i saved it in my documents and settings, but any place should work. click save when you're where you want it to be saved.

5) when it's done downloading, click open.

6) when the file opens, click extract all files on the right, or right click the folder and select extract all files.

7) click next, then next again, then finish when it is done.

8) a new folder should popup. it should look like this:

9) click on that folder, then click on the create.sound folder. it should look like this:

10) copy and paste all of the mp3's you want to use into that folder. MAKE SURE they are mp3's, not wma's, m4a's, or any other file type.

11) click on convert32 or convert64. the difference between them is 32 makes the file smaller but you lose audio quality, while 64 is better audio quality but the file is bigger. personally i would suggest 32 since most of you are going to be using a freehost, and you have limits on how much space you can use.

12) a windows dos screen should popup and convert each file. it looks something like this:

13) when all the files are finished being converted, click on the sounds folder in the create.sound folder. you should see all your songs in rbs format. MAKE SURE THEY'RE IN RBS FORMAT OR THEY WILL NOT WORK.

14) select all of the songs and copy or cut them.

15) go back to the main radio.blog.2.2 folder, then click on the radio.bog folder, then click on the sounds folder. there should only be the file playlist.php in there. then paste the rbs files you copied from the create.sound folder into there.

16) the folder should now look something like this:

17) now you need to upload the radio.blog folder (only that one, NOT THE WHOLE RADIO.BLOG.2.2 FOLDER) to a storage site or your domain, ftp being the easiest way. it must support xml and php. DO NOT UPLOAD THE CREATE.SOUND FOLDER. not only is it useless when it is online, it is a waste of space. if you don't have your own storage site, proceed to step 18.

18) the free webserver i would suggest is www.hostima.net. you can edit php, html, xml, and many other types of files, and it's free. did i mention unlimited bandwidth also? the only downsides are no ftp, only 12mb of space, and no hotlinking. it still will work for what we're doing though.

19) register on hostima and sign in. click file manager, then click create a directory (on the left side under "quick links").

20) type in radio blog as the name then click finish.

21) you should see something like this now:

22) click on that, then you should see a message that says something like "add files using quick links". MAKE SURE YOU'RE IN THE RADIOBLOG FOLDER, then click upload files on the left (under quick links).

23) click browse next to file 1. browse through your hard drive until you find where you saved the radio.blog.2.2 folder. click on it, then click on the radio.blog folder, then click on banner.gif.

24) then next to file 2 click browse, then click config.xml. then net to file 3 click browse, and click index.php. then next to file 4 click browse, and click radioblog.swf. then next to file 5 click browse, and click rbcore.swf. click upload.

25) you should see this in your radioblog directory:

26) go to upload files, click browse next to file 1, and click on version.ini. click upload. it should be added to the other files in the directory like so:

27) using the quick links again, create a directory IN THE RADIOBLOG DIRECTORY. MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT IN THE MAIN DIRECTORY WHEN YOU DO THIS OR IT WILL NOT WORK. title this directory sounds (if you do not it won't work).

28) now your hostima should look like this:

29) click on sounds in the file list or on the left side. you should get the same message about the directory being empty and that you can use quick links to upload files.

30) once you're in the sounds directory, click on upload files under quick links. click browse next to file 1, and click on the sounds folder (in the radioblog folder on your hard drive).

31) click on playlist.php. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU UPLOAD THIS ONE FIRST! DO NOT UPLOAD ANY OTHER FILES WHILE UPLOADING THIS ONE OR THEY WILL NOT WORK!

32) you should now see something like this:

33) go to upload files again, and next to file 1 click browse. then click on one of your rbs files in the sounds folder. ONLY UPLOAD ONE RBS FILE AT A TIME, OR ONLY SOME OF THEM WILL WORK (i don't know why, but that's just how it works).

34) after clicking on ONE of your rbs files, click upload.

35) once you upload all your songs files, your sound directory should look something like this (this picture was spreading the forum horizontally; click on the thumbnail before for the full picture):
note: remember that you only have 12mb of storage, so don't upload too many songs!

36) this step is optional, but if you want to edit the colors of your radioblog, click on your radioblog directory on the left, then click on config.xml.

37) change the colors using the hex codes. instructions are included in the file. click finish when you're done.

38) you can check to see if your radioblog works by going to www.hostima.net/YOURHOSTIMAUSERNAME/radioblog/index.php or www.hostima.net/YOURHOSTIMAUSERNAME/radioblog/radioblog.swf.

39) if your radioblog works, great, you can move on to step 40. if it doesn't please go to www.radioblogclub.com and post on their help forum. i know it's a hassle, but the people there know a lot more about radioblogs than i do.

40) now it's time to add it to your xanga. you have to use a converter to do this. you can use the one at www.xanga.com/radioblog, but i wouldn't reccommend it. personally i would go to www.codehouse.com/webmaster_tools/html_encoder/
once you're at one of those sites, copy and paste one of the codes below in the box and hit the convert or encode button.

code if you have your own storage site:
<iframe src="ADDRESS OF YOUR RADIO BLOG" name="radio" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" width="222" height="300"></iframe>

code if you used the steps i provided above and hostima:
<iframe src="http://www.hostima.net/YOURHOSTIMAUSERNAME/radioblog/index.php" name="radio" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" width="222" height="300"></iframe>

41) once you're done encoding it, it should look something like this:
<script type="text/javascript">document.write('\u003c\u0069\u0066\..........\u000a')</script>

42) to place the radioblog on your xanga, just copy the encoded code you just made, and paste it in the html header box on your xanga claf page.

if you need more help, go to the radioblog forums ([url=http://www.radioblogclub.com/forums/]here[/url]), read the instructions file that comes with the download, visit radioblog's xanga site ([url=http://www.xanga.com/radioblog]here[/url]), or look at these useful threads: [url=http://www.radioblogclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=169]here[/url], [url=http://www.radioblogclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1059]here[/url], and [url=http://www.radioblogclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1072]here[/url]. please don't PM me for help, and only post in this thread as a last resort.

i hope this will help some of you!
