Have a song you really want on your site? Can't find it anywhere, but you have the MP3 on your computer? Well this tutorial will teach you how to convert the MP3 to WMA and upload it to the internet so you'll have the link.

First of all, it is not a good idea to just upload an MP3 from your computer to the internet. Most MP3s are large files that takes a long time to upload and play on xanga, also they take up a lot of space. Therefore, it is much more efficient to convert it first. This will greatly minimize uploading time, file size and it will quickly load on xanga. Converting an MP3 to WMA is very easy and now I'll explain how to do that.

1) Download a program that converts MP3 to WMA. You can download a trial version of the one that I use here: http://www.8to32.com/mp32all/index.htm That one is very good.

Note: You can go here and search for an MP3 to WMA converter, too. There are tons.

2) After installation, open the program and go to 'Open job dialog'. Then click on 'Add' and find the MP3 you want to convert. After that, click on 'Options'. Set the Output location to where you want the WMA to be.. or check 'Save to source directory' if you want it to save to the original folder.

3) Change the 'Type' to WMA and Bit Rate to 22. Like the picture below.

4) Then click OK. And click "Convert".

All done converting! Now you will have a very good quality WMA file for well under 1MB... that's if your original MP3 file is around 6MB or less.

Now Toby will explain how to upload the song from your computer to the internet. That way you will have the URL.

1) Go into the Big book of rescources (Known as BBOR) and find a free hosting site under "Free Hosting." You can do paid hosting, but of course you're going to have to pay. I suggest you stay on free hosting first.

For this, I'll be using Freewebtown.com. You can, too, if you can't find any sites.

1b) You have to get an account there, first, if you haven't already.

2) After you have an account, on the left column, click "File Manager" right above the flashing 'Promote your site.'

3) Click the 'Upload Files' button. Click 'Browse' and upload all the files you need to. It should only take a few seconds to upload one song if you converted the file and if you're on broadband.

4) Once it is done loading, it should have a list of the things you uploaded. The song name, or your song, should be a link. Right click it and click 'Copy Shortcut.' Now paste it into the Music section of your xanga, or your playlist, etc.

*Since the new CLAF has changed, and you're somewhat new to xanga, you can put it under "Music." It's located right above the search bar section and right below the left module.
It should look somewhat like this:

Hope that helped.
any questions? Feel free just to post here and ask.

EDIT:

Okay, I just found out a new website that in my opinion, is ten times better than freewebtown. It's called blogupload. Go and check it out. If you don't understand how to use it, you can feel free to ask - but it's pretty easy so a tutorial wont be very needed.

You're wrong. To convert easely MP3 to WMA, you only need to put the MP3 in windows movie maker, then, save the file( not windows movie maker file but WMA one) and then voilá! Here's your WMA converted!
