a few weeks ago i posted a situation i was in. and now it kinda grew.... and im overwhelmed.

here are the people:
me
john
jessica
joe

right now i've liked joe for a little over the month. we talk a lot, kinda a mutual friendship, he's not a very open guy. i told him that i like him, and he's nice about it and very "cool" about it, but it was no real reaction. he doesnt show a sign if he likes me or not. but sometimes when we talk, i feel like he likes me, and sometimes i don't.

there's jessica and john. they used to like each other, and now only jessica likes john. but john doesnt like her anymore.

me and jessica are best friends for 13 years. =)

so while i still was liking joe, jessica introduced john to me. as like a friend thingy. and at the time. jessica told me everything, and john opened to me. so i knew they both liked each other. i tried to set them up, but nothing happen. jessica is too conservative, and john never really saw it happening.

and through that time period, me and john would always say we could see each other going out, and we'd have fun, and we'd always joke.

so one day it was a group hangout, and john and i were being flirty, i thought it was just for fun, totally platonic. he put his arm around me and i just snuggled up.

but 3 weeks later. i still like joe, and its pretty much the same, i dont know if he likes me or not. =\

jessica still likes john though. and tonight like 4 hours ago, jessica told me she wants to tell john but she cant. and i cant encouraging her, cause john told me he still likes jessica.

but 2 hours ago. (since i havent talked to john about love and stuff for awhile) i asked who he liked. and he said " i like you " at first i thought he was joking , cause earlier on today i was playing a joke on him, about me "pretending to be mad at him"

but it turns out he actually likes me, and hes liked me since the day we had the group hang out, and he put his arm around me.

but he never told me cause he was too shy. and he said he liked me cause im unique.

and now... i dont know. like when i first met him through jessica. i was like "you know what? i could go out with him. i mean he's so fun, we're flirty with each other" but i restrained myself cause he said he liked jessica and jessica likes him.

i even asked him why he wasnt so flirty with jessica and he said he was like that. but not giving me a real answer..

so now im just confused. should i continue liking joe? but dont know if he'll ever like me or not. or go out with john and risk hurting jessica? she's a very understanding person, but a friend like that for 13 years?

and i even asked joe for advice, (giving him false names) and he said that "my friend" aka me. should ask the guy i like (joe) out casually. just to see.

cause he says its rare for 2 people to just like each other unless they go out first.

so im getting mixed messages from him

based on what you wrote, there wasn't enough information to really give much of where joe stood in this situation. but maybe, like you said, he didn't show much emotion or feelings towards liking you so it's all just one big mystery.

but here's the thing. if jessica really likes john, and you end up hookin up with john, no matter how understanding of a person she is, that would seriously just ruin her. it's just something that people shouldn't do. you shouldn't go off and hook up with someone your best friend--especially for 13 years also likes.

that's a major backstab.

but, you're probably only in this situation because you initiated the scenario yourself. if you hadn't been so open and flirty towards john, he may not have liked you and chosen jessica instead.

and as for joe, i can only say what i think based on what you've written. now guys, if you tell them you like them, and if they like you back, chances are, they will tell you they like you. hands down. because it's a 100% guaranteed, no-risk win.

so if he didn't... unless he's the super-rare shy guy--he probably doesn't like you--based on the context.

but i guess it depends.

if joe was around during your big "hangout," then it probably wasn't too wise to be flirting with another guy in front of the guy you like. but i don't think you'd tease him that much. but one thing's for sure, guys hate mind games.

but what made me completely change my perspective about joe was about the situation you asked him. usually, when a girl tells me that "her friend" likes this guy and wants to tell him but cant---i can usually infer that she's talking about her and me--since, 5 out of 6 times, that's been the case.

so, if he figured out that you were talking about yourself towards him and still said that you should go for it, then it probably means that he likes you.

but here's the other part.

most guys are pretty stupid.

if he REALLY took what you said literally and thought of it as a "friend", then he's only going through the natural advice in his head and not tihnking of it symbolically.

so the pros and cons for joe seem to line up pretty evenly.

i don't see why you don't just tell him. it's not that big of a deal.

one thing's for sure.

yeah, just put yourself in your friends shoes. I know I would kill my BFF if she went out with the boy I like. So if you cherish your life I would not do anything with this john kid.

You're kinda' in the same situation as I am. Well, since Jessica is your bestfriend for 13 years. I wouldn't get a boy come into our lives & a risk of ruining it. Especially an EX. I think you should continue to like Joe & tell him straight up in person that you like him. Online talk doesn't really help 'bcuhs you can't see their facial expressions. Yenno? Take Joe's advice & ask him out & if John's still likes you, tell him how you're feeling. Don't leave the ones you love for the one you like, the outcome won't be good.

Ooh.. I've been in a similar situation, and it didn't turn out too well. I started to fall for "John" and my best friend found out how much we were talking to each other and all that. Well needless to say we got into a stupid fuss over it. In the end, he was just messing with me and I felt completely used. I don't believe that's the case with you, but well, anything can happen.

No matter what you do.. always keep in mind that TRUE friends are hard to come by. Stupid boys are everywhere. Choose wisely.
