The war of 1812, why was the war of 1812 bad for america?

i'm trying to do a debate for my social studies class and my topic is:
Federalist side: You are to debate why the War of 1812 was bad for America.

please help me and give me some points on why the war of 1812 was bad for america.

this should be in homework; becuase it's not really a debate.

the war of 1812 was bad for america because it exposed just how inadequete the new nation was. The British were in control most of the time, and the few victories happened when the british got too complacent.

american lives were lost; but no territory was gained. The war of 1812 did not resolve any of the problems in the beginning. the treaty at the end did not adress impressment of american soldiers at all.

the United States fought a war, lost lives, and gained nothing.

in fact, the best american victory happened after the war was over!

the battle of new orleans (the american victory) and the whole war of 1812 was a rather big waste of lives in pursuit of territory.
