UNTIL NEXT YEAR
My eyes are resting on the sunset
As we close in on summer’s end
I’ll miss staying up until the morning
I’ll miss sneaking out with all my friends
As school approaches with its teachings
As foliage browns until it’s dead
The difference between school and summer
Are lessons read and lessons lived

As we sit on the porch and drift away
Is this our labor or our judgment day?
Autumn through spring I will be waiting here
So, so long, summer. Until next year…

Tour busses full of my self medication
To heal my anger with a pit
That fateful game of spin the bottle
Let me deliver your first kiss
With the three rivers congregation
Independence and fire works
You wanna go into the basement?
A darkened room can have it’s perks.

As we sit on the porch and drift away
Is this our labor or is this our judgment day?
Autumn through spring I will be waiting here
So, so long, summer. Until next year…

With every breath of heat these are the days for which I bleed
I tread on asphalt streets, music and friends are all I need
With every breath of heat these are the days for which I bleed
I TREAD THE ASPHALT STREETS, MUSIC AND FRIENDS ARE ALL I NEED!

As we sit on the porch and drift away
Is this our labor or is this our judgment day?
Autumn through spring I will be waiting here
So, so long, summer. Until next year…

i like it. i was just singing a song, and i think its by dashboard confessional.. they say "so long sweet summer.. i fell into you now ur gracefully falling away.."

its a nice poem. were u inspired by personal experience? cause i feel the same way about the summer moving away..

and i dunno if you rote it, u didnt have to repeat that line that u did repeat, without the repetition it would be better thumbsup.gif (just an opinion)

i like these parts
I’ll miss staying up until the morning
I’ll miss sneaking out with all my friends

thank you. thank you. yes, it is a song and, yes, i wrote it. on the last day of summer i was messing around on my bass and came up with an awesome riff and it sounded like the end of summer so i said "i'm writing this song and making it about the end of summer".

dont compare my stuff to dashboard confessional, though. i dislike them passionatly. hehe.

You've got some amazing talent. I can very well relate to this, and that's what I lyke about it. Also, how you placed each worth into such a great rythym.

You definitely are talented... I especially like this line:

The difference between school and summer
Are lessons read and lessons lived

You definitely capture the essence of Summer and what it means when you're growing up...
