Soo, I woke up in a hospital bed last night.

Baasically, I was getting ready to go to a study session for my music theory final which was at 8am today. I was standing in the parking lot outside the music building, and that's all I can remember. I woke up in the hospital room totally freaked out, and the first thing I did was try to get someone to talk to me, and bitch about my purse (which had my laptop in it). My roommate came in and told me the story according to a friend who was with me at the time.

Apparently I was standing outside, probably wasn't paying attention, and a car backed into me. It hit me (I'm not sure which direction, but I was hit nonetheless) and I fell to the ground. I was knocked unconscious, probably from hitting my head and not from the impact of the car.

The interesting thing about this is that I have no recollection of the event; but in addition, I have no damage to show for it. No bruises, nothing's broken, nothing hurts, no blood (I think). Last night I thought that I didn't even hurt my head when I fell, but when I took a shower, I did notice that one spot on the back of my head stings quite a bit, so I guess I do have a bit of a.. something.. from hitting the ground.

They did a few silly reflex tests to make sure I didn't have a concussion, and I was able to leave (I asked several times if I'd be able to go home last night). I walked into theory this morning and people clapped. O_o

But yeah, last night was interesting. I talked to a few of you when I was in the hospital waiting for someone to tell me something, so that was fun. =]

OH and probably the most important thing I keep forgetting about. I don't have health insurance, so the ER visit (while not being a big deal) will cost. The person who hit me (I still don't know who it was since I wasn't awake) is going through her insurance to cover it, and I'm not suing for anything more.

Holy shit, Dani, I'm glad you're alright! That's so scary! It's good that she's going to cover the costs, though, because you really shouldn't have to, especially if you don't have health insurance.

That's really scary.

I've been really sensitive about car accidents recently because a good friend of mine had been hit by a car a few months ago and was severely injured. Nobody was with him and the car didn't even stop; thank god there were other people who saw what happened and chased down the car (we live in NYC so I guess it's not that hard to do that) and called 911. He doesn't remember anything that happened, but he ended up with a few broken ribs, a fractured vertebrae, a broken leg, and a bad concussion.

It just really scares me; for weeks after that, I wouldn't cross the street unless the crosswalk said go, lol.

Be careful.

It went really well. I was expecting much worse, but I knew the material on the test, so thankfully I was prepared. _smile.gif

I'm trying to play it off to be honest with you, but the thought that I could've been seriously hurt is not something I haven't considered. I'm extremely thankful that I got let off with only a small scrape on the back of my head.

Well, Dani, at least you have something to use as an excuse. At least I would, haha.

Just be careful and I'm glad that you got everything checked out, because a lot of times people think that they're okay, but there's something there that they can't see and surfaces later and it's too late to get someone to cover their bills.

And that person needs some driving classes.

Oh my god, that is crazy! Did you end up taking your final? Never mind, I just re-read and I guess you did :)

The insurance company is going to try and low-ball offers to you, so make sure they pay you a good amount apart from paying for your medical bills.

It could've been partially my fault, yes. Honestly I don't know if I was just standing there or if I walked out in front of someone. To my understanding I was just standing there and didn't move out of the way because I wasn't paying attention.

Well, it’s very kind of you not to sue. A lot of people probably would have.

And jeez! What the heck, Dani?
