3 cups of all purpose flour
2 cups of sugar 1/2 cup of cocoa 2 teaspoons of baking soda 1 teaspoon of salt 2/3 cup of vegetable oil 2 teaspoons of vinegar 1 teaspoon of vanilla 2 cups of cold water 1 tub (16 ounces) of ready-to-spread frosting (any flavor) OPTIONAL (for toppings): chocolate chips, split kitkats, m&m's,nuts,etc. 1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 round pans, 9x1 1/2 inches; dust with flour. - or 1 rectangular pan, 8in. by 12in. 2. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. 3. Mix oil, vinegar and vanilla. Stir oil mixture and water into flour mixture really hard until well blended, about 1 minute. (no lumps) Immediately pour batter into pan(s), dividing evenly. 4. Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes. 5. Remove from pans; let the cake cool completely. Fill and frost the cake as directed on frosting tub. Arrange desired toppings on top of cake. I made this today in baking class..It was really good and animal friendly ![]()

I sound really stupid but, what kind of vanilla would I have to buy? Extract? Ice cream? haha not ice cream, for sure. But yes, vanilla extract; the ones that come in small bottles (well most of them do because most of the time you don't need a whole ton of vanilla) |

Yummm, that looks good. Have you tried putting chocolate pudding in the cake? It makes it all moist.
Everybody uses so much frosting! I use like a third of the can for that much. |
