I have been thinking about getting a digital perm for a long time now because I wanted to spice up my look hahaa.
This is a picture of me, (a lot of people have been saying that getting a perm depends on your face, but I really don't know how to tell)... ----- [I AM ON THE LEFT - this was a long time ago, but just to show u my face and hairstyle right now.] ----- [I AM ON THE RIGHT - another, just in case.] I had a perm when I was like seven and it looked good, although I hated it at the time because I could never brush my hair and I'd cry hahaha. I'm not that stupid anymore lol. OK so a digital perm is (I think) a perm w/ curls and straight hair at the top? If anyone has any pictures, it would be really helpful. Could I have your opinion about the digital perm, or any other kind of perm that you might suggest? THANKSSSSS! |

Isn't that straight like.. all around, except the bangs? Anyway, I think no if you're not planning on getting bangs and yes if you are. It's because, well, IMO and from what I've seen, curly/wavy hair looks best with bangs, whether it'd be side bangs or actual bangs. I think without bangs, it sort of makes the person's head looks weird. XD

OK so a digital perm is (I think) a perm w/ curls and straight hair at the top? If anyone has any pictures, it would be really helpful. if you dont even know what it is, you may want to research it before you actually get it... anyways, i got one about 3 years ago in hong kong. if i were you, i'd do it someplace in china. i tried getting one here, and it went straight after 2 days. the chemicals they use here are also not very good and leaves your hair stinky for days. also, i ended up regretting getting it because all i ever wanted was for my hair to go back to it's normal "straight." think about it. if you do end up getting it..even after the perm is done and over..your hair wont be the same as it was before. and if you want to straighten it, you'll end up getting split ends. my hair used to pretty long. it was below my boobs when i got it done..and then when it was over, it was such a hassle to straighten every day (not to mention all the split ends i ended up getting). so, in the end..i cut my hair super short. it was literally only one inch (so i could get rid of all the damage). and yes, youre right. you cannot brush your hair. the only way to get it "nice looking" is to wet it. or to take a shower every morning so your hair would look good. |

That hair style seems popular on Asians nowadays. I guess it would look good on you.

shit, i got a perm once... did not look good. it was going to be like that but i had a crappy hairdresser (this was ages ago)
im sure it would look nice, but if your going to get it done go somewhere very professional, even if it means paying an extra $20. you want it done right since a perm doesest go away unless cut off. |

^ Eh. That sucks. I wouldn't get it.
I was thinking about getting it too. Then I saw someone in my class who had it permed. eh. She said she had missed her hair and that she had to wait till it grew out. =P |

I've always wanted my hair like that. I'm now afraid of doing it now after reading Maggie's post.
I don't think you'd look that good with a digital perm. Your hair is a bit short for it.. |

yeah... this look is really popular with asian girls. especially the celebrities you see in HK. um. since it's straight on top, you shouldn't get it if you have a large/long forehead because this will only get accentuated by the straightness of the hair before it becomes voluminous. also, don't get it if your face is thin. the curls will obscure the middlish part of your face so it would thin it down. |

I love my digital perm. I've had it since spring and it hasn't lost it's curliness yet. It just sucks that you have to wash it then put a ton of spray in it to make it look nice.
That's without doing anything to it...I get lazy before school. It looks A LOT better if I take the time for it though. |

^ Your hair looks sooo good! I suppose it's meant for people who have at least half a ft. of hair below their chin.

I got one about a month ago, when I was in China. I actually like mine, and it doesn't really bother me that you can't brush through it. Yeah you should probably use some spray/hair gel to keep the bounce in the wavy/curliness. But yeah, you should probably wait for your hair to grow a little longer before getting the perm.

I never knew that that look was called! If I didn't have curly hair already, I'd totally get that!
Hmmm, well I'd look cute on you, but maybe if your hair were a little bit longer. Also, the tip about curling your hair before to see how you'd look is a good idea! |
