Round One begins! The first theme is.... SUMMER! You're challenge is to design a myspace layout with a summer theme! From beaches, to wildlife retreats... from academic freedom, to hot weather, it's your choice! It can be anything as long as it is tied directly to the theme, and creativity is expected and encouraged. For this round, you can choose between designing a DIV Overlay or a Stand Table layout. Keep in mind that as the contest progresses, the judges might decide to eliminate this choice in future rounds. So, choose wisely. PM your submission to ALL of the judges, not just one - that way in case one judge is missing, we still have all of the entries at the deadline. RULES: 1) No use copyright images 2) It cannot be a layout made in the past or submitted anywhere else 3) Must be appropriate content and fit the theme 4) No generators 5) After each round, remaining layouts must be submitted to cB 6) Submissions cannot be just an image, they have to be coded as well Now that the deadline has passed, the contestants for Round One are:

 Wow, yeah, that'd be pretty long but whether or not it is, in some contests, they have inactive participants so I guess that's also a plus?  Anyway, I have a question. You know how you said that comparing a flash-made layout to the others won't be a worry? Well, what about a stand table layout being compared to a div? And.. a stand table layout is a like a default layout right? No fancy coding? Just CSS, images, etc.?

^ a standard table layout can still be kickass. and A LOT of div layer layouts suck. a good designer is a good designer. period.

Some will also not go through the first round and/or have their name removed. So you have nothing to worry about. If we find that its taking WAY to long we will eliminate more than one. But just because you make a DIV layout it doesn't mean your staying in the contest. Table layouts can do just as well as DIVS. Like above stated some people can code a DIV like no other but they have a lot of trouble making it look really good. (Trust me I go through the queue I know) . Also this is the first round where there will be NO specifications. When we get to the later rounds you will have to either do only table layouts or only DIVs. PM your layout code (please place it in a codebox) + screenshot to a mod. After the round is over all the remaining contestants will then submit the layout to cB. That way you don't have to rush and that way we can keep track of your layouts. See with SO many mods going through the queue half won't know which is for the contest and which is not so yea. Its a lot easier that way. Also this wasn't mentioned but.... NO GENERATORS If you feel there is something you need to use one for.. ask a mod before doing so. cB provides codes you can use. From CSS to the hide your profile scripts and DIV codes. There is no reason a generator will be needed. |

I KNEW IT, IT WAS GOING TO BE A SUMMER THEME! Anyway... I have a question..
Throughout the rounds, and someone doesn't make a layout (since they will be automatically cut). Is there still going to be elimination those who did make a layout? |

Most likely yes. Unless there is a dramatic plague or something and A LOT of people don't do it then most likely we won't cut anyone just to keep it running.

eww why summer...
this is gonna be more of a pain than anything... i would drop out jus because ive been sooooo lazy... but i'll give it a try  ps. thats a hell of alot of contestants its gonna be like one person out a round? cuz it looks to be like a million not looking to win... but sooner or later we're gonna run out of new ideas to produce new layouts and style for each theme oh yeah to make things easier... cuz i don't have all them mods as friends... and i'm pretty sure i'm not alone in this... right? Sorry I've been out during the start of the first round guys! I had a family party to be at
So yes. As Toya stated twice, one person eliminated per round unless the contest drags on FOREVER, which it won't. And I can't stress this enough... SUBMIT YOUR LAYOUTS AFTER the round is over. You don't want the other contestants to see it before it's over right? DEADLINE IS JULY 9th |

completly un expected but i won't be in new york for a week, my aunts picking me up to go to PA, i'll be able to get on createblog. but my cousin doesn't have photoshop....
i started.... but i won't be able to finish it in time for the deadline.... so that means i'm out |

I would have loved a PM about this a few days ago. Oh well. Good thing I got on today XD ha I've been on the biggest designers block for the past few weeks. I'm contemplating on starting so late, and if starting at all.
It's been raining non-stop here in my town every freaking day. I'm so sick of it, it makes everyday feel so gloomy. It kind of overrides the whole: sunny, vibrant, happy, fun theme of summer. But that's life when you live on the Coastal Bend.  EDIT: Is it recommended to add credits before or after this round? I know it would be better after each round but I didn't know if we had to before each round, after designing... Also, can we link .html pages, instead of creating a new account or placing each design on our own account. I know how to copy the Myspace source from the page and add the HTML and CSS. |
