What's the best or worst? Honestly, I hate dislike island music. very much. I don't know why. I'd rather listen to country than island. ehh. I live on an island. aha. kinda weird.

I tried searching and didn't find a topic that was necessarily about BOTH best and worst genres, so I think this is cool. :)

---> Entertainment

Worst for me will always be country. I can't deal with it. I have a co-worker that listens to twangy country music all day long and it makes me crazy. I do admit that I love Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, but I contend that they're both more bluesy than country.

Best for me will be jazz. Sadly, I don't listen to jazz as much as I used to, but I think that musically it's the best genre for me. I'll take a Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone or Louis Armstrong tune (or rendition) over anything else, any day. (I just need to find all my jazz-y cds).

I can't stand country. It's not the accents and it's not the music. It's the lyrics. I don't know why they bother me but sometimes they seem pointless. Oh well. shrug.gif

Hardcore (the electronic hardcore) is the worst... the same beat in every fucking song. My favorite genre is grindcore, but I think the genre that takes the most talent is either jazz or metal.

With the expectation of Johnny Cash, I don't dig country. It's not that I hate it or anything; I can tolerate it but it's most definitely my least favorite genre.

I can listen to pretty much everything as long as it's somehow original or inspiring. Pretty much all genres have great artists and artists that could be held responsible for a 1st degree aural homicide charge.

While there are genres that I may not feel inclined to listen to, I try to not shut my ears completely to them since there's always the chance of listening to something cool.

There's a ton of genres and subgenres of music. But I guess speaking on broad terms I don't like Country or Classical, although Classical takes a lot of vocal talent and I do respect them for that.

I just can't stand country music. I don't know if I have a very legitimate reason for not liking it, but there's just something in the music that I must not like. Aside from that, I can basically tolerate anything else.

Worst... country, rap, metal and techno. there are always some exceptions though. sometimes.

Best for me is indie rock, or something like it. I really like "college radio" type music right now, like Imogen Heap and Eisley.

SCREAMO. That stuff is so hard to listen to.. how can anyone enjoy listening to that crap? mellow.gif

Alternative and indie are probably my favs. I love The Hush Sound and Straylight Run, they're AMAZING. I'm really disappointed because they're teaming up on a tour, but they're not coming to MD. sad.gif

And the best would have to be punk rock.

I don't like country, opera, or anything that I consider "loud." I'm pretty much fine with anything else since I'm open to listen to just about anything.

I don't even consider country music for my worst music genres. I don't think it's fair to other genres to say that's the worst one, because it's such an unfair competition. Quite frankly, nothing is worse than country.

Worst other than that would be pop punk/emo for me. I absolutely cannot stand listening to that whiny, beat-up crap. I'd rather listen to Bach fugues all day, and believe me, anyone would get a headache from it. Oh, and techno/other dance music.

Best: Alternative and indie rock. I also love jazz.
