I just wanted to put a couple of suggestions out there:
1. Deleting posts. Not topics, but posts. Just a simple button to delete a post. 2. A section where all of the closed topics go. This would save a lot of space in the active forums. I don't know why people would want to browse closed topics, but hey, you never know. It's mainly to save space for active topics. (Yes, like a "recycling bin" section.) (EDIT) Okay guys, thanks for your opinions. (Didn't know about about the deleting posts thing, sorry.) |

1) Members/Official members do not have the right to delete posts. I'm glad that we don't because it'll be misused.
2) You mean like a 'Recycle bin' section? |

1) Only moderators are allowed to delete posts. I agree with Sandra; it would be misused if anyone could do it.
2) Hm...I think that might be helpful. A place where the closed topics automatically go. Or a place mods could just move them. |

1. Agree with the others.
2. Question. Are you talking about allowing closed topics from all forums? If so, everything would be a jumble since topics from all areas of cB would be mixed in one forum. If we were to separate them though, it would be a shadow of normal cB except with only closed topics. I think leaving it the way it is now is practical. |

1 - Post deletion by members is problematic, at best. If you have something that you feel passionate about deleting, try PMing an admin and see what can be done, other than that, sorry. You can edit posts though, so if you are worried about content, edit out your post and just leave a "edited" or something message to replace your initial post.
2 - I'm not sure why a closed section would be beneficial to the site. Eventually they fall to the end of the forum pages, as the active posts move up to the top of the pages. |

1. agreed with others
2. I understand what your saying.. but would members be able to reach this "recycling bin" thing, because some topics have questions already answered, when a member has the same question. |

deleting evidence makes everything complicated and unlogical.
i mean, a piece of sequence is gone. who can easily understand the other piece. |

1. Do you mean a member being able to delete everyone's posts or just their own?
2. I don't think the closed topics really generate a problem. I do like the idea though. It would be easier to search just for topics already closed and avoid duplicates. |

How exactly would the search be easier? It's not as though someone would search manually. The search feature would work just as well.

Question: if deleting posts means that you're deleting evidence of say, spamming or member bashing, or something equally as horrifying, then what about editing a post? Wouldn't the evidence disappear in that situation, too? Or is there some sort of way to know that someone has edited their post, or even what it was prior to its edit?
Also, I remember vaguely that deleted threads can be recovered - can that be done with deleted posts, as well? |

Also, I remember vaguely that deleted threads can be recovered - can that be done with deleted posts, as well? I don't think you can recover a deleted post. Besides, editing and deleting isn't exactly the same thing; I think it's obvious when someone has edited their post. Also, it's going to be misused, I for one would delete any of my post I want deleted just to annoy others. I seriously think this feature shouldn't be allowed to Official/normal Members. It's pretty much fine the way it is. Only mods can delete posts. |
