i'm taking it this Saturday, and I'm freaking out over the math section...geometry isn't my strong spot, and i can only do maybe half of any higher stuff. i'm in prep class in school (every other day) and use the online ACT prep.
any basic or detailed advice for those of us that are about to take the ACT? also, how long did it take you to get your scores? was it easier or more difficult than you expected? |

ummm there was a lot of geometry on mine =/ but hopefully there will be not that much for you.
my advice is keep working and don't just give up, especially on the science section, which was a pain in the ass. it was like you had to compare about 6 different graphs at a time. it would take a long time to fully understand all that, so for me it was best to just try to get an overall idea and make good guesses, then go back with any extra time i had and look deeper into the graphs. if it's the same kinda science section as it was for me you could spend probably the whole time and only really get a couple done. unless you're just really good already at understanding multiple graphs simultaneously... it was easier than i expected, but i had already taken the SAT which is harder in general imo. i took the ACT twice, but ended up using my first score. the second time was more for kicks to see if i could get a couple points higher for a bigger scholarship opportunity. |

if you know the basics though you'll be ok. you can eliminate options pretty easy on a lot of the math imo.

Im glad someone made this topic, considering I need to still take it. And I only have one chance left to qualify for the promise scholarship. -_- on my practice I got a 23. does the practice match up any with the real test?

i wouldn't study for the ACT unless you want to review the science. the rest was cake, tbh.

I took it a couple of years ago. It could've changed a bit since then.
32 english- 34 math- 32 reading- 32 science- 30 I forget my writing score. I seriously put down "C" for 50% of the science test. I didn't really know what was going on. Guess I got lucky. |

^ Yeah you're first time was a GREAT score. You'll keep improving it by a couple points each time you take it.
And seriously, if you can't figure out an answer, fill in "C" - it's the most used answer. |
