So I noticed a lot of people around here are interested in modelling. One of the key factors in landing a job (TFP or a paying job) is a go see. For anyone who doesn't know, a go see is basically an interview with a prospective client. Here are some tips and tricks that I've aquired over the past few years of modelling.

The Weeks Before:

- Eat right! This means 3 regular sized meals or 5 small meals. Try to get as much fruit and vegetables as possible. They clear out your system and keep your skin looking fresh. Try not to eat processed sugary foods (this includes coffee). They dull down your skin.
- Drink as much water as possible! I usually drink 6-9 regular sized water bottles a day in the few weeks before a go see.
- Do as much toning and cardio as possible. The whole point is to look your best.
- Boost up your skincare regime: scrub, cleanser, toner, moisturizer. The whole works.
- USE WHITENING TOOTHPASTE! It makes a huge difference. I recommend the Crest Vivid white day/night.
- Research the client. Nothing looks better than knowing your stuff.

That Day:
- Eat small meals, mainly protien (chicken or fish, no red meat) and fruit/veggies. Stay away from carbs and sugars as much as possible, they will make you puffy.
- DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING CONTAINING CAFFIENE! This puffs our your skin and makes you look tired.
- Concentrate on your problem spot, and enough toning excercises (no cardio) so that it hurts while excercising, but make sure it doesn't stay that way.
- Practice your walk in heels in front of a mirror. Practice poses/faces as well.

Getting Ready:
- Wear as little makeup as possible, this is a big one. Blush, mascara and a little powder is enough. DO NOT WEAR FOUNDATION! Unless its a damn good one, clients can tell by the texture of your face.
- Brush your teeth for a good ten minutes, floss and mouthwash. The whole works.
- Make sure your hair isn't greasy or frizzy
- Pull your hair back away from your face. DO NOT WEAR IT DOWN! Clients want to see your bone structure. I wouldn't advise anything tight though, they may ask you to take it down (to see what it looks like) and creases are not fun.
- Come in looking simple and polished. They don't care if you have the artsiest fashion around; flattering jeans and a simple top works. Make sure it's the color that looks best on you.
- Bulky, trendy jewelry is a no. Stick to simple studs or small hoops (I mean the kind that are no bigger than a ring band)
- WEAR HEELS! This is so important. They want to make sure you are comfortable walking in them.
- Wear a goddamn pushup bra. I don't care if you don't think you need one. You do. People invented them for a reason.
- If it is for swimwear or lingere, make sure you wear the most flattering thing you have. Wear it under your clothing as well, no one wants to wait for you to change.

Right Before You Leave:
- Double check that you have everything: portfolio (if applicable), purse, cell phone, money, any needed forms.
- Double check how you look in a mirror (both front and back, panty lines are horrid)
- Get some gum (chew it until you are about to enter the interview, then get rid of it)
- Spray perfume, but not too much.
- Make sure any cell phones, beepers, etc are turned off.

At the Go-See:
- The second you walk in greet the client. Walk directly up to him/her and shake their hand.
- Make eye contact!
- Smile, relax and be youself. This does not mean go crazy and start speaking in slang like you would to your best friend. Keep it professional; proper english and no curse words.
- Answer all questions politely and make sure to say please and thank you.
- Listen carefully and answer honestly. This will make the best impression. The point is to market yourself.
- Do not overexaggerate or make up lies about yourself. It WILL come back to haunt you. If they ask about experience and you have none just say "I don't have any experience but I'd like to show you my natural ability."
- Show good posture; stand up straight, shoulderblades back, chin up.

Well I hope this helped, I'll edit it later if I come up with anything more.

Wow, that's all really helpful.
I've always thought about modeling, and I have a few people talking to me about go see's.

I .saved everything you said too, lawlz.

Thanks!

Awww. sad.gif This may be a stupid question, but how does one acquire the Go-See in the first place? *Scratches head* I mean, just look up agencies and.. call them?

If you aren't part of an agency, look around for advertisements. I know seventeen has them every friday in NYC. Keep in mind without an agent you can only go to open calls.

I think you have to belong to an agency first. Then I guess they find out/clients call them about wanting models, and the agency calls you and sends you if they think you'd be good for the job. That's what I've seen from TV anyway. shrug.gif
