Who do you think is worse? Consider the facts. Colombus is responsibe for killing far more than Hitler. He really started the war between white men and "Indians" and hs voyage brought many diseases to America that killed even more people (The natives weren't immune like the Europeans and couldn't fight off the illnesses)

Then again Hitler was evil. But he was crazy too. In the courts if you commit a crime you can plead insanity and get out of it so........ i'm not really sure which way I'm leaning.

hitler still. colombus was not singularly resposible, for a genocide as hitler was. while columbus certianly isnt someone worth devoting a day to, he was not nearly as bad as hitler

Columbus did not kill natives INTENTIONALLY by carrying cold viruses nor did he lead the hate between White men and Natives. Seriously, how would he, with no knowledge of the new land, know that what he considers an everyday cold would be so harmful?

Hitler, on the other hand, killed intentionally.

Hitler or columbus? They were both cruel and evil. Both committed genocide. So its hard to decide but most people think that Hitler was more evil than columbus which isn't entirely correct.

Hitler intentionally tried to kill off several races.

Columbus is guilty of lack of judgment. Essentially, Columbus did the same thing Bush is doing in Iraq -- not taking into account the consequences of converting other people to your belief system.

Oh yes like he knew what sickness means to Natives and knew exactly that they didn't have the kind of treatment for the common cold so he used to kill them all off rolleyes.gif

Columbus wasn't a paragon of man today and he wasn't a paragon of man then either. Is hunting for sport really news in that era? You tell me.

The first rule of politics is to know that the juice is worth the squeeze.

The juice or the united enemy against us doesnt sting more than what we're accomplishing.

Any conspiracy theories about columbus are entirely speculation... after years of distortion, the truth can no longer be discerned.

Hitler is a far greater evil.

While you shouldn't forget the fact that Columbus actually did kill Indians on purpose who didn't trade with his faction, as well as enslaving millions...he isn't a saint. The voyage itself and Spain should be blamed for that.

But Hitler was a scourge on humanity. A big black blotch on the book of history.

And where did your history teacher learned that?

I don't mean to question his/her credentials, but I would like to read that material, too, and form my own opinions.

But YOU should know that during that era, there were many cruelties that were not considered out of the ordinary as we consider them so today. What he may also have been exaggerated through the times as you very well know that it does happen with important figures in history.

yes, but at least he chopped off his hand rather than his head! think of all the things hitler did- all the races he killed (you are aware he killed more than just jews, are you not?) all the people he killed (even though there were more people to kill then) how hitler organized all those people into killing those other innocent people. there were so many germans who helped with the holocaust. yes, columbus was greedy, but the things he did werent nearly as frowned upon in his day, and there ar many many greedy, selfish people. hitler on the other hand is the epitamy of evil

I believe Columbus's men did most of the killings, and Columbus did not do the actual killing himself. I'm not sure though.

No, microscopic viruses travelling on Columbus's men did almost all of the killing.

If Columbus hadn't made the journey, some other person will eventually have reached the Americas.
