Do you believe in the traditional view that a guy should never hit a woman? If you do believe that does it still count if she's twice your size?

Actually, there are times when hitting a woman is appropriate but the situation must REALLY be desperate (i.e life and death).

It's wrong to hit ANYONE without a reason. My friend hits her boyfriend all the time on the head HARD and I wouldn't be surprised if he slaps her one day.

Since girls want EQUALITY among the sexes, they should expect to be hit by a guy if they made the first move. I believe that chilvalry still exists of course, so if one guy hits a girl in public, that guy has a high chance of being beat up by other guys.

Meh.. I agree with your equality reasoning.. but I still wouldn't hit a girl.. (although I have before because of martial arts training, but like stated above, they were expecting it)

The main issue at hand here is realli the societal standard (partly chivalry I suppose) that says guys hitting girls is wrong, but not the other way around

The retaliation part sounds like you're stereotyping that guys are always stronger than girls and will hurt them if they retaliate.. which probably true the majority of the time

IN MY PIONT OF VIEW: guys should never abuse girl...physically or verbally.

LOL: I have a perfect real life example of a female who was twice my size and trying to kill me. But her coach made her see a psychiatrist, so that's good.

If you own a dog, you would know this kind of situation is very possible. Imagine that you're playing with your German Shepard very roughly (imagine that you're hitting it on the head, hard). You keep on hitting it and the dog WILL growl at you, and perhaps bite you. Now, lets say this dog isn't your dog, and you hit it like that, the dog will bite back as well.

I know that guys shouldn't hit women, but if the woman is litterally asking for it, then his reasoning is justified.

But it sounds very much like you're saying that women shouldn't hit men because the men might retaliate and hurt them.. that still doesn't sound like very just reasoning

Very much so. In fact, I consider guys who do not stand up for themselves against evil women are no good. Believe it or not, I've seen men who are abused and manipulated by their wives, and it's just not right for either to be manipulating and abusing each other. Men should have control over how their spouse treats them and VICE VERSA.

I've seen a woman shouting at her husband in public while their children were watching nearby and crying. What I've heard was that the woman is the head of the household in this family because she the bread maker while her husband takes care of the children because he doesn't speak English and just came to America. What she was screaming at him about bothered the heck out of me ("you worthless this, you fukcing that", keep in mind that the husband is new to the US). The least I would've have done in his situation was drag that btch indoors where our children can't see, and slap her at least once to get her attention and then talk to her. Now, if it was the man who faulted, then I my reasoning wouldn't apply.

I DO NOT support abuse of any kind. Slapping and smacking are not meant to be abusive unless used too much and in the wrong state of mind. However, sometimes, it's just right to smack someone who deserves it. Maybe it's easier for me to say this because I'm a girl who would beat up other girls....

About the twice the size thing.....I saw a girl hit a guy before and he didn't hit her back because she was a girl. But if you're a man and a girl that is your size or bigger hits you... would you still not hit them even thought she can beat you up?

I believe it is wrong for either gender to abuse each other. I also find it wrong for a woman to manipulate a man with abuse.

Ex/ A man gets slapped or hit buy his wife. He hits her back. She goes to court because she was "abused" by her husband. Now, who do you think is going to win this case? You hear wife beater more often than husband beater.

my view may be a bit biased being irish and all. It depends on the situation, like if the man deserved to be hit then no. But if the woman is going to hit a man, then she should get hit like a man. In this messed up country of ours, it is no longer acceptable with assault and battery charges. this is what i believe take it or leave it.
