I have this ointment that my doctor prescribed to me that I use for my zits. It doesn't get rid of them "fast" but way faster than just washing your face. There's also this type of face wash that my cousins use for their face. It's basically a jar and then the sponge is connected onto it. You just press down on the sponge and the liquid comes out. Then you apply it on your forehead. I suggest the next time you see your doctor, tell him to prescribe some stuff for you, but in the mean time, just wash your face twice a day with soup and water (note: over treating the skin can also be extremely bad).

Don't pop the zit too. Popping zits cause the oil and bacteria that caused the zit to form. Not only does it spread oil and bacteria, but it causes other zits for form near the first one and can cause your skin to rip.

But I'm talking like a benzoyl peroxide cream. Not a cleanser that has benzoyl peroxide in it.

Benzoyl peroxide can actually be too harsh for lots of people's skin... I tried it before and it always made the area flaky. Salicylic acid which is in mostly all acne products I've seen is milder. Most products I've seen have 2%, and the ones for more sensitive 0.5%?

^ Same here. I don't have sensative skin, but I do have combination skin (which is a pain) and benzoyl peroxide has always been way to harsh.

PROACTIVE. OMG.
I used to have REALLY REALLY bad acne,
and when I started using that my face cleared up immediately. Now I'm pretty much blemish free, except when I'm wayy overly stressed or I'm on my period. I adore that stuff.

I use benzaclin. It works VERY well. But its a bit expensive if your insurance doesnt cover it. You have to have it prescribed by your doctor, but it is worth every cent.

for a QUICK remedy (like overnight), use toothpaste. it will calm the inflamation down a bit for the next day, but in some cases, it'll come back worse ;x

Cleansers don't do much help, actually. It just slows down the oil/bacteria, etc. Prescribed creams work the best, and so should most other non over-the-counter stuff; but I haven't tried every single product out there let alone half.

You need an actual "acne treatment" cream.

But if it's something you want to gradually heal along with a bunch of other pimples, make sure you're using a toner, whether it's a straight toner or a toner-moisturizer.

Also make sure you're exfoliating at least once a week to slough off dead skin cells and dirt. It really does make your face feel fresher and the medications will penetrate through your pores more easily.

If you're willing to spend a bit of cash without a dermatologist's prescription, I suggest trying products from Shiseido's Pureness line. I bought my boyfriend a cleanser and toner/moisturizer and his face looks dryer. His face used to be really oily, then he was on accutane for a month, but even now he still breaks out. But shiseido's Pureness line seems to be controlling his skin, so it's all good.

Oh and Benzyl Peroxide did not help my bf's skin (was very oily) and it made my skin worse (I have combination). So now I only stick with salyctic acid. I use aveeno cleanser, shiseido pureness warming scrub (exfoliator), Mary Kay Formula 3 Blemish Control Toner (2% salyctic acid), and Shiseido The Skin Care Moisturizer with SPF 15.

Keep yourself hydrated. Drinkin plenty of water every day helps your skin stay healthy.

Don't use the same sheets for weeks at a time, same with pillow cases.

Don't use the same towel more than twice (preferably no more than once) unless you've put them in the laundry before using it again.

Do not use make up because no matter how healthy it claims to be, it's still clogging your pores with "foreign" substances.

Wash your face twice a day; once in the morning and again before you go to bed.

^yeah, even small changes like using a satin pillowcase cover can help your skin become healthier.

and there's really no quick fix to pimples. if it is seriously a problem, you should DEFINITELY see a dermatologist because..well, they are the experts thumbsup.gif i've been using differin since like middle school and it works wonders for me :)

^ Actually, a satin pillowcase only prevents wrinkles, doesn't really make your skin healthier. But I hardly sleep on my face anyway, so will a cotton pillowcase really give me wrinkles? All these beauty myths, gah.

Personally, I use Clinique's Anti-Blemish Solutions: Clear Blemish Gel. Whenever I feel a pimple coming on, I apply it immediately. Usually it prevents the pimple from getting worse, or at the very least, makes it heal faster.
