I've noticed a lot of new sites popping up dealing with making Gaia Online themes. Is CB going to pick this up or no? Because it would be nice to have a one stop shop as it were for themes/skins for all of these sites.

Gaia maybe one of the "black sheep" of the online communities, however a lot of people do use it. Its not like it wouldn't attract more traffic here to the site should we add a Gaia theme section.

Apparently not.

Anyway, as a (former) user of Gaia, I found that the community there was extremely inconsiderate and blatantly disregarded the rules, especially since there are over six million users there. I personally don't want those members migrating over here because we started offering themes.

Not only that, though, but createBlog is a resource for blogging sites. Blogger, LiveJournal, Xanga, WordPress, MovableType, and even MySpace (to a degree) are all blogs; Gaia is much more.. interactive and there are many more things than just forums/profiles there.

(And as a side note, this reminds me of when someone suggested that we should provide Neopets layouts.)

What the f**k?

First, Who the f**k are you and why would you call yourself fist?

Second, Gaia is a piece of shit. Fun to troll, but if I had to pick between the two, I'd spare CB and have gaia die.

Third, the last thing we need is more shitty users, who will eventually become shitty mods.

Fourth, profit.

What a piece of shit.

Actually, Gaia is somewhat of a blogging site. They have journals, and, it's not just a site for kids. There are a lot of great people on there, writers and artists and the likes, who forward their works, rather than being myspace whores seeking attention. I think a Gaia Profile Themes section would be wonderful. And no, you don't have to worry about more of us 'shitty users' coming over, because most of the ones who'd be interested in submitting designs and joining CB aren't all that shitty.

There's definitely no denying that there are TONS of people on Gaia, and that if we were to show up on google offering Gaia layouts, we would attract a LOT of new visitors.

However, it would be more about attracting new visitors than catering to our current ones, because most people here are not on Gaia.

It is an online community, but it doesn't offer the same types of services we do. While we are a community built around offering resources, Gaia is.. a community.

I wouldn't consider it a competing site, it's just a loud (for lack of a better word), dialed-up version of other social networking sites - aka it does tend to attract a younger audience. There are some exceptions, though, because there are more people over 17 there than the total number of active users on CB.

Eh I wouldn't suggest it, I kind of agree with Kyro, its a piece of shit >_>

I guess I've just never been into any of the gaia before, but its just one of those things that your into for like a few days and then your out of it. I just don't think I would see us supporting layouts for them, and if we did I would think we would have to support all the other websites out there that you can customize for. (ex/ VampireFreaks)

I think at this time there just isn't a big enough demand for it. As it is, we have Friendster and Hi5 options that are pretty barren.

well, i must say, i disagree with most of you quite strongly. i've been on gaia for years, and, yes, it gets boring every once in a while, but then you come back and it's like WOW this is amazing! and gaia is not just another community, it's also a roleplaying site. people don't just go there to talk, or for the cute avatars, or to post pictures of themselves or whatever. people go there to play out stories with others. it's actually quite a lovely hobby. and honestly, making profiles for gaia is so much fun, it just seems like a shame not to be able to post them here on cb. :/

from personal experience I think i have been seeing too much anime layouts on createblog anyway so I dont see a point in making a section for gaia, you could just use your myspace and just like start a group or something but seriously Im kinda getting sick of all the anime layouts here on createblog [no offense to any designers because your work is amzing but its just sort of overrated:]]

almost nobody on this forum uses gaia.

one of the most important factors that you have to keep in mind is, the amount of layouts that are submitted for whatever blog site has to do with the amount of members on cB that use that certain blog site. and since almost no one on here uses gaia, there will be next to no submissions of gaia layouts.
