Hello All, Thanks for reading this.
I've been a visitor of CreateBlog for almost a year now, {And I will say, exellent myspace layouts :)} and I was thinking, I cannot make proper Myspace, Blog, ect. Layouts..BUT I am wonderfully good at NEOPET layouts..So, would it be possible if I made those kind of layouts? If not, I'll just go back to being a visitor :) whistling.gif

Toodles,

Welcome to cB! My name is Shelby.
You know, thats actually a very good idea. I don't use neopets anymore, but I can make layouts. You should suggest it to a Mod!

Well, I'm not really into Neopets or anything, but I don't think that having a Neopets layout section is a bad idea. I'm always looking for new ways to bring new members to this site. There are millions of users on Neopets, and having a Neopets layout section would open the door to hoards of new people joining the site.

I got this idea here:
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=166306

Added:

My source: HERE

Are there enough 13+ members on Neopets??

Yes, there are. Check out these statistics:

QUOTE
Growth Rate
Neopets' membership has grown at an astounding rate - from approximately 90,000 in April 2000 to more than 30 million in June 2005. Approximately thirty-nine percent of Neopets' members are age twelve and under; forty percent are between the ages of thirteen and seventeen, and twenty-one percent are age eighteen and older. Significantly, Neopets' explosive growth rate has been "viral" - meaning that the impetus for this dynamic growth has been word-of-mouth from user to user, not commercial advertising.

Memberships:
  • 30 million
Demographics:
  • Under 13 years old - 39%
  • 13-17 years old - 40%
  • 18 and older - 21%
  • Female: 60%
  • Male: 40%

60% of Neopet's 1,000,000+ members are over 13 years of age. Please stop shilling BS and start stating facts. Yes, Neopets does allow younger children to join the site, but the majority of those members are 13+. Also, I doubt the majority of members who are younger than 13 years of age will be surfing the web for information regarding HTML for their Neopets layouts.

Are they (members 13+) active?

QUOTE
Time On Site:
An average of 5 hours 24 minutes per month [comScore Media Metrix - July 2006].
Ranked 2nd on the entire Internet.

The average user spends 5 hours and 24 minutes per month. It seems as if members on the site are pretty active. I see your point, and I'm going through the youth studies that Neopets has offered it's members... hopefully they will provided some data as to what demo graphics took the study. At the moment I have come up with this:

In 2002 80% of the people who participated in the survey were 18 years old and under (roughly 12,000).
QUOTE
15,902 US resident NeoPets members (12,512 aged 18 or under) provided data across the four survey instruments used in this report.

This means that about 3000 of them were over 18 years of age. These people are all active users (active enough to take the youth survey). With such a large number of responses the margin of error is very low. This is a fairly accurate representation of what the demographic for the active user over age of 18 would be.

This also corresponds with the percentage of users over 18 being 21% (2006). Yes, I know that this was in 2004, but Neopets has only grown since then. The demographic probably hasn't changed. I can only imagine that the active members who are 13+ would still hold about 60% of the websites active population.

That's about 18,000,000 people... even if you cut that by 75% to get a guesstimate of how many active members their are it's still 4,500,000 people. There aren't many Neopets layout sites, and I think that it would boost traffic to the site like crazy.

Actually I think it is a good idea as well. There are many users on Neopets who area always looking for layouts to set up their user look up page. Even though Neopets is not a blog, it will bring a lot more people to here.

- Neopet Popularity -
(total pets in Neopia : 197,833,198)

You can make shop layouts:
http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=gammaboy13

Profile layouts:
http://neopets.com/randomfriend.phtml?user=gammaboy13

Pet layouts:
http://neopets.com/search.phtml?selected_t...ring=biter_face

This would really boot the traffic on CB.

I think this is a good idea too. We'd have to get Jusun on board to do the preview template coding. And we'd need people that knew how to code the layouts.

While, yes, this would definitely promote traffic to createBlog, my main (and only) concern is the maturity/age of the potential new members. shrug.gif

That, and the age thing are my biggest worries. I've seen Neopets profiles with coding, but I've never seen anything like a template or a possible tutorial on how to code such a thing.

Other than that, it seems like a great idea. :]

I personally love Neopets. whistling.gif I'm all for this idea. I think it would be fun if we supported the site as well. I'm sure there are SOME neopet designers somewhere on here. A lot of people go on Neopets, it could spark some more views.

Eh well the neopet layouts, its not hard to code at all, its really basic..

Although a lot of them look really crappy from what I've just seen pinch.gif

Yea I have to admit I do like neopets, I always go on there and try to get a poogle but I'm furious because I can't ever get one and then I quit for a while. laugh.gif

I never really found why their layouts where ever really important though..

I never really saw why they were so important, either.. mellow.gif I'm not for it. They're so easy to make, I don't see a big need in them. Basically anyone can acquire a stylesheet and enter in a couple of hex codes. And the whole idea of having little kids (even though some people may consider me one) here doesen't really appeal to me..

^exactly, and if you guys look at the code above, I'm pretty positive people can see its not that hard.

I mean I'm sure theres stylesheets on the internet that we can give links too and more than likely they can google for one and find it..

I think this is the first or maybe second time I've ever heard anything about neopets so I don't find it to be to big of thing.

Ziggy - How old are you exactly? Welcome to createblog, please remember to read over the community guidlines and not to double post wink.gif theres a edit button on each of your posts if you would like to add anything..

Also you've only been on neopets for a month? Thats odd, since a lot of people after a couple of months lose a lot of interest in neopets..from what I've seen

I agree with this possibly being too directed towards children of younger age than you would usually find here in createBlog.

The age of people around here is usually 13+, and "PG-13" content would definitely be expected here. Neopets, I believe, attracts more people in the 12 and under age range.

Attracting people at the age of 12 and under to createBlog isn't really a good idea, especially when it says "you must be 13 or older" right in the registration form.
