what is bump? I see that people write that a lot on some of the topics here.

Whenever you post in a topic, the topic in that forum gets bumped to the top of the list. For example, in a really really old thread in The Lounge that is on, say, the 50th page, if you post in that topic, the topic'll get "bumped" to the first page of the Lounge. Or if you search for "View New Posts", it'll be bumped to there.
Bumping, generally, annoys people. |

yeah. what gigi said. but mods can bump a topic without posting in it. right?
the point of bumping is to keep the really active topics at the top of the page so that it stays active and the community stays alive. maybe???

The purpose of bumping is for people to be able to see it and reply in it. No one (hardly no one, anyway) will go to the 50th page of the Lounge and pick that one specific topic to reply in. When bumped up, it's on the first page, and therefore gives easier access to others. |

Bumping is used to make more people see your post, basically. One every now and then is okay. Pages and pages of "bump" spam get old after a very short while.
