ermm.gif but even if you use the right click disabling & highlite, theres still a possibility of gettn the pix...

i usually protect my pix by putting my name on it. or "property of" or have a common quote like in my xanga: "with love, mary at frzn_lilyv@xanga[dot]com" ... so it still links back to me.... try it out!

hope i gave you an idea! _smile.gif

There are countless ways to steal an image off a site and if you DO disable right-click and highlight, it might provoke them. I would just leave your images alone and put a copyright (if they are yours and you made em) or your name (if you screen caped em or something) like what frzn_lilyv said. You can still disable right-click and highlight... but I wouldn't.

As for the code, you can most likely find it on this forum. Just search for "right-click disable" or somethin like that.

Put your name all over it or use a server that uses your name (like sitesled or photobucket) so you can change the URL when they steal a pic from you...

lmao u can jus change the url to like a porno pic or sumfin so if someone stole it their screwed...

well i just put my name on my stuff... just write your user name straight across a large proportion of the pic

the onyl right click that works, is if u block the part where u let go of the mouse button. if u only block the part where u first click, that is easy to get thru.;

another way that i use requires you to own a server or the have images hosted on a server where you can control hotlinking. first, you disable direct access to images (so if you type in the image url in the address bar, it will not take you to the image). it also requires the image you want to be protected to be in a div layer. in the code, simply put a blank transparent gif of the same size as the picture you want to protect right over the picture. so when people try to save it, they'll be saving the blank gif.

take a look at my xanga to see. try to save the banner/heart image heh...

yeah putting your signature or name on your pics is the best defense 'cause if they really want the pic off your page they can even always take a screen shot of your page and cut the image out using an image editing program.

btw that's not a screen shot ;o

hmm....let's see, you got that from your browser's cache didn't you?? lol! happy.gif yeah when someone comes to visit your site, every image on your page gets saved into his/hers browser's cache or temporary internet folder. so really no site is ever secure. hotlinking protection, watermarking, and copywriting are probably at least the best ways to protect your artwork and content from would be thieves.

er, i didn't even have to do all that. like i said disable hotlinking only works when you type in the image url while you're not viewing the page. otherwise you can copy and paste the image url from the source and it will still show...

there's a script for that, but it's a waste of time. the code works only if the xanga you took the code from is open when you copied the code. if you close the xanga, THEN copy the source, it's fine. that code takes up a whole lot of loading time, and it's pretty useless to me. don't bother using it ;o

Unless you write your name all over the picture, someone can always steal it. And even then, some people are skilled enough to photoshop your name out.

Anyways, even if right-clicking is disabled on your site there's a simple way to steal images. Just click on the image and drag it into your address bar (the box on your internet browser where you type in the URL's you want to visit).
