How to make a brown contrasty filter

How to get from this: to this:


First Sharpen your image
Then make 2 duplicate layers, on the first make it contrasty just don't over do it(Image>>ajust>>>brightness/contrast)Set it to soft light
The other Desauturate(image>>ajust>>desaturate) and set to screen
then add a fill layer of #240443

Then add another fill layer of #64310E set to Screen and you are done!

For the first layer you didn't say what else to do. And you didn't say to put what opacity....
