1) We're going to use the following image for this tutorial. Go ahead and open it up in Photoshop.

2) Enlarge your canvas width to 500px, adding space to the right of the image: Image >> Canvas Size. Use the following settings:

3) Click and hold the marquee tool to select the "Single Column Marquee Tool".

4) Click on your pixel where you want to start stretching.

5) Press CTRL + T and stretch the pixel to the right by selecting one of the square points and dragging it to the right of the document.

6) Your final image should look somewhat like the following:

This technique can be used on your layouts or just to make your images larger.
