this is a continuation of my last topic about my jaw hurting

http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...p;#entry3069716

i was thinking it was teeth clinching, but now since it's only on my right side and it's far back in my mouth i'm starting to think maybe it's my actual teeth.

who's gotten their wisdom teeth out? how did it feel before you did? did your mouth hurt before?
hi-C

console.gif If it is your wisdom teeth, it's going to hurt like a biatch. My brother has to get his removed sometime, but he keeps putting it off because he doesn't have time to take off work.

I'm lucky, I never got mine and none show up on x-rays.
shanaynay
It's not THAT bad. They give you vikatin to take, you'll be fine. I was good by the 5th day.
karmakiller
I like your spelling of "vicodin".

They just look at your teeth and tell you what they're going to do. they tell you pre op, and postop stuff that you should do. Whatever you do, after the surgery, dont somke of drink through straws, just dont do any sucking motions.
misoshiru
No. my wisdom teeth are still coming in.

haha sorry.
brooklyneast05
yeah that makes me feel better about all this
amish-hammer
when i got mine out they were kinda caved it and it hurt a little but i had to get all 4 of them out and i was out of it for a week because of all the drugs they put me on lol.
Gigi
Mine are all shattered in pieces, but I do have them...

You've probably already seen me post about it already, but getting my wisdom teeth removed was the worst medical experience I've had in my life.

yeah that makes me nervous. i don't get it though, some people say it just hurt for a day and half or so and others like you say it was horrible.

i hope i'm one of those easy cases.
Gigi
The pain didn't really bother me (there really wasn't much of it...sharp pain that is). Your mouth would just feel really sore for most of the time. But it was really the sheer embarrassment of having to hole yourself up for a month (I literally did not walk outside the door for a month...other people heal in a week, good for them) and having to eat cold congee with a tiny spoon (because I could BARELY open my mouth), and having only ONE side of the face swollen with a hard lump the size of half a tennis ball, that really made it a horrible experience. I literally thought I would never get better. There's something so terribly depressing about lying on the sofa with a hot/cold pack on your face, watching reruns of every single possible show you can imagine on TV. All day. For a month.

How's that for a run-on?
brooklyneast05
yeah i hope that doesn't happen to me...

i remember in high school this one girl got hers taken out and her face was swollen and bruised and everyone thought she got hit by a car.
Gigi
Hit by a car LOL wow. Come to think of it, I wasn't that bruised at all. Just that weird hard cancerous-like lump on my face.

I hope it won't be like that for you either. It's really quite bad. Best of luck flowers.gif!
ForgiveTheSinner
Well mine are still growing and my mom isn't letting me pull them out until they grow because my sister got hers pulled out two years ago and my mom didn't want me to go through that.

Basically she got drugged, went to sleep and she came home and passed out on the floor for like 8 hours and when she got up she was still out of it.

Good look to you. Hopefully you only have four wisdom teeth. I heard some girl had 11.

keke. But like I said in your other thread, I thought my wisdom teeth were giving me problems because pain seemed to come from there. Instead, it was that I had a swollen jaw joints. The dentist gave me some neurological drugs to make the swelling go down. I had to take those for a month (and that meant a dry month), and he told me that if the pain didn't go away after a month, I would have had to see a bone doctor. Now THAT was scary. I'm sure your situation is much better than mine.
mipadi
I never had my wisdom teeth removed. About once every 8-12 months, another one comes in. It hurts like hell for a week or two. Sometimes I can't open my jaw. Then it pops through and everything's fine again.

I think I'm done now, though. Or maybe I have one left to come in.
brooklyneast05
^hmm maybe that's what mine are doing.

so the dentist told you about your jaw right? i hope if it's not my wisdom teeth then he can give me some insight into what my problem might be.
misoshiru
yeah. My dentist told me that it was my jaw that was having problems, not my wisdom teeth.
Castaway
I had all four removed at once about two years ago. It wasn't so bad.. they put me to sleep. My mouth was numb and big for a couple of days.. there was a lot of drool and blood invovled.. i had to put napkins on my pillow. I think i got a fever from the antibiotics (they will probably prescribe you some). The bottom two annoyed me the most. The top two were no problem at all.

It took about a year for the hole to cover up. I had to squirt water into it with a plastic syringe in order to get the food out of the hole.

that's about it.. i think you should get all four taken out.

damn i have to pick food out of a gaping hole in my mouth?

THIS SHIT JUST GETS WORSE AND WORSE SOUNDING.
misoshiru
don't get them taken out unless it's absolutely necessary. I mean, I had braces end of my freshman year of highschool. My dentist had the option of taking out my wisdom teeth, and she decided not to.
hi-C
I used a waterpic to get the food out of the holes in my gums.

And don't mess around and get dry socket. That shit is NOT fun.

Word. Several studies have suggested that at least 60% of wisdom teeth removals are unnecessary [1].
Castaway
i think you should get them removed while you're young.
It's going to cost a lot more if you're older.

I think my wisdom teeth were sideways... so that was bad. They could also mess up your teeth i think.. if it doesn't grow correctly.

DEE, IT'S WEDNESDAY, I WON'T KNOW FOR TWO MORE DAYS....ON FRIDAY. i'll keep you updated

i just know it's gonna be bad news. they'll say jc you have 8 wisdom teeth and we are going to chop them all out.
Joss-eh-lime
ok you need to go to a doctor who will without hesitation put you to sleep. its torture if you are awake through the procedure.

this is what happened to me
-got an IV in my right hand
-woke up and drifted into my moms car
-threw up some of the nasty anesthetic when i got home
-went to sleep for a few horus
-drank a smoothie that my mom went to get
-took different meds at different times.

went back to work two days later. that was about two months ago.
Gigi
^ Oh yeah, it was pretty weird for me too. I don't really know what they did to me, but I was aware that they were doing stuff to my teeth, just in and out of consciousness I would say. They told me I started hyperventilating and crying out of nowhere. wtf? I don't remember it though.
brooklyneast05
that makes me think of this one time i was getting a cavity filled and i was on that gas stuff they give you and i started thinking about how this could all be some plot to get me in there so they could kill me. it seemed reasonable at the time.
Castaway
when i was put asleep.. i think i felt pressure on chest. Then all of a sudden i wake up for like 2 secs during the procedure. After that i find myself awake with my mouth swollen and they were done.

Just get it over with thumbsup.gif

LOL

It was probably the gas that clouded your judgment. Fitting...
karmakiller
Sorry JC, your worrying is wearing off on me.

I've never been gased at the dentist _unsure.gif If I knew that was going to happen I'd MAKE someone else go back with me, just to make sure... you never know...
brooklyneast05
my jaw doesn't really hurt that much anymore, but i bet he tells me they have to come out anyway $$$$
brooklyneast05
just a few hours left until my dentist appointment _unsure.gif

i know you're counting down the minutes dee

brooklyneast05
they have to come out cry.gif
Blyat
does it really hurt that much?
i have wisdome teeth, but they havent "come out" yet (you can only see it hrough x-rays) i have to get all four of them pulled out when they are fully in ;A;
brooklyneast05
he took xrays of mine and we looked at them. mine aren't even grown in a lot. he said from looking at how developed they are he would have guessed i was about 16 not 20, and that mine are really slow growing. whatever that means.

then he told him they needed to come out. i guess all four. i don't know, he wasn't that specific. he said some shit about my bone growing around my tooth and i was like _unsure.gif
karmakiller
console.gif I was hoping that you wouldn't have to get them removed. But, I guess, on the bright side, since they aren't that developed hopefully it won't cause much discomfort or swelling.
so0o_contagious
aww man dont worry. ask them to put you to sleep! make sure you have soup and ice cream ready.
firechild
There's a nerve that runs by the wisdom teeth. Its going to be a bitch
misoshiru
awww. console.gif don't worry too much about it, it'll be fine. I've known so many people who've had to get their wisdom teeth taken out, and they were all eating solids in a week.
amplifyy
Ouch, just... Ouch.
