If you have read all of "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck, I (kameko) and Alex (satisfiedtom) present you....

OF MICE AND MEN: COUNTER-STRIKE STYLE

filmed with hltv on counter-strike 1.6, Alex and I, and two other friends created a video of cs, imitating Chapter 6 of Of Mice and Men.

This was an extra credit school project, and amazingly the teacher allowed us to use a violent game.

Using microphones to speak, we film a tale of Lennie Small, George Milton, and other characters from the book. Please enjoy our movie, and turn up the volume. The download might take a while.

I'm currently reading it for English class. I'm on chapter three, and have a quiz on Monday. Everyone's been telling me that this book rocks.

We'll see.

I read this one in ninth grade, I believe. I liked it a lot, but I enjoyed The Grapes of Wrath more. Steinbeck is one of my favorite authors; I've read a couple of his short stories, too. They all seem to have a common tone. Not exactly depression; that might be too harsh of a word. Melancholy, I think, describes most of his novels.

Required in ninth grade.
Hated it.
But Lenny was funny to imitate.
qoddesscheeks
i've read it 4 times and saw both versions of the film adaptations.

piece of classic, i must say.

Gryffindor-Girl
OMG!!! I had to read it for School and lets just say I am NEVER reading that book ever again.
Crash2

I read it in 9th grade. Light read. It's ok but not one of my favorites.
SayBloodyMary
I liked it, but it died after we spent FOREVER studying it in class.

It was serious overkill.

I hate when that happens...
jesusisthebestthing
i had to read it my 10th grade year...i actually liked it. it made me re think how i view others and life in general
blacknailpolish
Read it in 9th grade. I probably would have liked it if I had read it on my own, TBH, but I didnt. They made me. Still a pretty good book though.
SarahxJoy
I liked it, probably because of the discussions in class we had while reading it. _smile.gif It was a good read for me.
pandemonium
it was boring
Butterflyphoenix
read it in 8th grade.

I liked it. Maybe I'm the only one who likes it. _unsure.gif

Me too... cry.gif

But it had to be done though and in a way it was better that he was killed quickly without being scared.
fredatemespleen
oh!
and the puppy he killed.
cry.gif
poor doggy.
Butterflyphoenix
Ahh! That was so sadd...!! And I felt so bad for the owner too, because he said that he regretted not taking the whole situation himself and the responsibility of his own dog. _unsure.gif

But what did you think about Curley's wife. Personally,I thought she was completely misunderstood. It was all Curley's fault for the reason why she was flirtatious around other men and thus considered a "whore".

Curley was such a jerk! The only bad thing that happened to him throughout the story was that his wife died. stubborn.gif
fredatemespleen
Yea.
I felt bad for her. :[
And i think George shouldve killed Curly instead of Lenny.
:P
Butterflyphoenix
I know, he really should have! stubborn.gif
fredatemespleen
yea.
we should rewrite it.
xD
poprocksugar
We read it as a class in jr english.
I liked the story, but I think i need to read it on my own because my teacher had us read it aloud and I got bored.

I really enjoy when a teacher breaks down the book and has discussions. I loved reading Macbeth in my senior year, because of all the underlying themes within the book.

This was an independent read in the 9th grade. It was light, so most of the class enjoyed it. The foreshadowing and parallelism is pretty deep.
Butterflyphoenix
for me, foreshadowing is always good. rolleyes.gif
