It had the best intro to any television show Ive ever seen. It is definitely in my top five favorite television shows behind X-Files and Home Movies and above Family Guy and The Venture Brothers. I like cartoons, especially AMERICAN ANIMATION. What the hell happened to real animation, sure it wasnt the best but dammit it was ours. I do not like Anime. I love the lion king and Aladdin, their two of the best animated movies Ive ever seen. Goddamn you Pokemon, you ruined my favorite tv shows. Does anyone remember the greats like:

Bobby's World

Gargoyles

Freakazoid

Animaniacs

LOONEY TUNES!!!!!! You know what, f*ck the Venture Brothers, LOONEY TUNES ALL THE WAY!!!!!! Greatest cartoons in history. Thats another victim of goddamn anime, they recently came out with the now canceled "Loonatics Unleashed," it was terrible!!! Damn you pokemon!!!

Rugrats

Life with Louie

DUCKTALES!!!

Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers

Tailspin

Hey Arnold! (Got me into Jazz music)

DOUG!!!

I dont know whats happened to the world where greats like these are no longer available for kids to see, instead they're subjected to creepy jailbait shows like Zoey 101, Hannah Montana, iCarli, and just plain shit like Chowder and Camp Lazlo.

Some notable exceptions would be Ben 10(its okay...), Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, and I think thats it.

Can you remember any others that I might have missed? Can you remember how great life was when these were the shows to watch? God, I hate the present. The 90's were the shit.

Yeah, Batman Beyond was incredible. Then again, I like anything Bruce Timm is a part of.

Although this is titled Batman Beyond, its really a topic about old cartoons and how great they were. There is nothing current that compares.

This is possibly the best single cartoon piece ever made (in my opinion). It was nominated for an academy award in 1953.

From A to Zzzz...

Ai, which is why I brought up Bruce Timm. I could list them out, but I figured if people were Bruce Timm fans, they'd know.

Here you go -

Batman, The Animated Series. It brought back good storytelling, incredible writing and voice acting and is overall one of the best series of the 90's.

Superman, The Animated Series. Not quite as good as Batman, TAS, but it's up there for the same reasons. It was just lighter as compared to Batman, TAS, which has a more noir feel to it.

and Batman Beyond, which has already been mentioned.

Those are classic Timm series. Years later came Justice League and Justice League Unlimited (which is basically Justice League with a larger cast). JL and JLU were very fun and overall had the same good writing and voice acting as earlier Timm series. It catered to a younger audience in the end, and I think that the quality suffered a bit because of that.

The Animaniacs is to this day, one of the most intelligently written cartoons I've seen. It was fun enough for children and had enough wit to entertain adults as well.

I could really type for days on the subject.

Exactly, although Im really comparing classic animation to current animation which has been bombarded and corrupted by anime since the anime explosion in america from Pokemon. Theres not one cartoon series currently running that even comes close to comparing with the Jetsons or Looney Tunes or The batman animated shows of the 90s. Everything just sucks now and its the kids who will suffer in the future. And we wonder why kids dont go outside anymore. In my day, you sat down on a saturday, watched 3 hours of cartoons in the morning and then went outside to play baseball or football or climb trees. Im only 21!! What the hell, has american culture really dropped this much? There are obviously many many more factors to it than cartoons, but damnit cant we as a society offer kids more than Kirby - Right Back at ya or Chowder? Those shows suck!!! Even kids are bored of them. On that note, I'll leave you with what a real cartoon used to be, again.

Aah real monsters was another great show I havent thought about in a really long time. How about the original sonic the hedgehog show or Catdog or Angry Beavers, all good shows. What I give you now is a legend among kids born in the late 1980's. I give you...

The-Abominable-Cpillar (sorry, don't know your name) -

I'm curious. Do you think that your opinion on what currently is and isn't good is based exclusively on your distaste of anime? I don't mean that in an insulting way at all. In fact, I know people who dislike many shows and the biggest reason why is because they absolutely loathe anime, in general.

To be honest I don't "loathe" anime, in fact sometimes I thoroughly enjoy it. Mostly the more commercial series like Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto(Japanese Version. The English cast is annoying), Akira, and a few others. I don't hate all of anime, I hate the way that American cartoons have basically been forgotten to make way for anime rip-offs. Not just cartoons, but kids shows in general have suffered from this. This forum was simply to try and remember the good days of kids shows when it was fun to wake up and just watch cartoons. I dont see many kids having fun with these shows. Now everything is violent or crude, there is no intelligent humor in kids shows anymore.

Japanese animation sense of humor is pretty much retarded and american television show producers misjudged American interest in anime as thinking we thought the shows were humorous. NOPE. I think for the most part people saw more graphic violence and more outlandish violence and since America is a country that loves violence, we gravitated towards it. The problem was that it got to the point where there was nothing else, everything is anime now or trying to mimic anime humor, instead of anime violence, and theres no point because its not interesting. This gives way to dumber kids.

Every girl in anime is fit and gorgeous(apparently) and this gives girls watching it insecurity and I dont think little girls need another example of how theyre not good enough. Little insecure girls lead to overly promiscuous girls which leads to whorish women which leads to more unwanted kids being born which leads to even dumber kids which leads to gang violence and crime which leads to my house getting robbed. All because of anime.

p.s. HOLY SHIT!!! I forgot about this great great show!!! Another one of the absolute best. Let's see them rerun these instead of f*cking Hannah Montana

I f*cking loved the show Doug. I watched it every day I got home from school. Now they don't even show it, I mean wtf, that sucks.

I really liked all of the shows you wrote on there. I can't even stand to watch the kiddie channels anymore because its complete crap that plays on there. I do watch Cartoon network on occasion but thats only to watch Fosters Home.

I really liked the Angry Beavers, Rockos Modern Life (another show I watched like every day when I was a kid), and Real Monsters.

Sorry if I repeated anything Jeremy...I didn't really read any of the topic. >_> But I posted!!! What is this Batman Beyond anyway? >_<
