After looking at everyone elses great attempts at retouching a photo I thought I'd give it a shot. I mean, it didn't look that hard. Actually I didn't find it too hard considering I couldn't find any good tutorials and had to kind of teach myself ermm.gif
Anyway,

That skin looks just a little blurry. But looking at the whole thing, it's good for a first. thumbsup.gif Try something with the hair.

Lol actually now that I look at it, they sort of do look like they're trying to escape shrug.gif

Well, firstly I smudged/clone stamped imperfections off her skin. Then blurred it a bit, but now that I look at it, I think a bit too much.. anyway, then I added some color to her lips with airbrush and dodge/burn. Whitened teeth with low opacity airbrush and dodge. I got rid of the shadows under her eyes, then added a low opacity layer to fill in the new color of the shirt.
Oh and with GIMP, btw.

I actually did try make the hair a lighter shade, but it didn't really suit so I took it away pinch.gif
Thanks for the comments guys

I was just gonna bring out the the teeth issue, but as a tip unless its cartoon like no ones teeth are as white as paper. so my suggestion is to leave it be unless the person's teeth are as yellow as this smiley lol wink.gif
as for the skin, its a bit too blurry but i give you a thumbs up for no blurry loose hairs
the change in blouse color was also a wonderful touch.

I think it's way too obvious on the face. it's too smudgy and blurry looking, especially around the eyes. retouched pictures should look more natural. but I do like the recoloring of the blouse and her chest looks pretty good.

yknow i wish people would start doing retouches on photos that actually need to be retouched. because when it's redundant like this, that's when it seems way overdone.

Yeeeah quite true actually, though I basically found any I could to see what I could do with it, seeing it was my first go at it.

I think the reason why it looks fake retouched, is because it looks fake even without the retouch. I suggest try another picture, like what tripvertigo said.
