I'm not impressed by him. He didn't even paint the stuff, just screen printed it.

Edgar Degas, hands down. His ability to combine realism with a little bit of fantasy is beautiful.

Somehow I'm amused by that! laugh.gif

But then again, the topic didn't ask who was your favorite painter, it said artist. mellow.gif

Well out of those that are very famous, I'd say Salvador Dali and I also really love David LaChappelle's photography.

Marc Chagall. He was amazing. For someone who was a little obsessed with the Bible, his work was transcendent in so many ways.

Despite a minimal interest in painting, I have always had a particular taste for René François Ghislain Magritte. I love me some good surrealism. I always did my art projects on him. Heh heh.

Granted, most of my favorite artists are best known for their work in video (i.e. Fellini, Lynch, Tarantino, etc). This is mainly because my extent of knowledge is far greater in the aspect of film and cinema as opposed to any other medium of art. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy art of all forms. happy.gif

I love a LOT of artist's work. But if I have to choose one, I would say it's Degas. His paintings are beautiful. Enough said.

You're such a groovin' lady. I've always thought that Andy Warhol was ridiculously overrated. And Roy Lichtenstein totally rocks the Casbah. cool.gif
