ojairus - what denim do you have ?

raw denim is basically denim with no wash, no predistressing, usually just indigo dipped. The idea is that they fade and have a ntural looking distress and faded over factory fades which imo usually look really cheap and bad (besides a few, expesive brands)

Selvage is a type of stitching (cant really explain), done on the outseam which prevents the threads from unravelling. I think alot of people care too much about selvage and it gets misleading. Selvage is not always an indicator of good denim. Especially considering it seems like everyone (companies) is coming out with selvage denim. Basically dont look too much into selvage as it will not always mean good jeans, also boot cut jeans will not have selvage as it is not possible to attatch.

What selvage seam looks like

Heres some pics for those who are wondering wha the natural fading looks like. (these arnt mine)

raw denim usually starts off at this color

and after wear -

Evisu

Dior

Acne ( i think these are womens )

Nudie

basically you go from

to this

I dont think girls get into raw denim (besides that they dont know) is because usually your supposed to wear your jeans unwashed for a long time (most people wash at around 6 months of wear)

Wth! Damn, I was thinking that these kind of jeans would work somehow but six months? Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew. [Said to the tune of the Mm-mm-mm-mm-good commercials from Chef Boyardee.]

That stuff is crazy. I guess the creases would end up to custom fit you? They're like Rainbow flip flops! They make Evisu women's jeans at Puma. They are sooooo comfortable, but I don't think they're really raw denim. :/ And I've seen Rock and Republic make selvage seams for their denim too.

LOL. Yeah, no to the raw denim. Though I would consider it. XD.gif
Selvedge stitching is nice, I like it. I don't own a pair with it though, but I have seeeen it before.

lol yeah thats usually the turn off of raw denim for most. but the pictures i posted are more than 6 months wear more like 9 months - 1 1/2 years. If you washed them often like washed jeans the indigo would come out and the jeans would become light and low contrast, which i guess defeats the purpose of wearing raw denim.

Pretty much. The jeans take the shape of your body so the honeycombs (back-of-the-knee creases) arnt out of place like with some washed denim.
Im not sure about womens but im pretty sure the puma x evisu jeans are raw. heres a picture of a worn pair, you can see the puma logo on the back pocket coming out

^ I like the look of those, and the fact that they basically "mould" to your own shape. I haven't ever tried raw denim but I definitely consider it.

ideally, yes. Otherwise too much color is lost in the wash and the high contrast fading wont be there. but of course febreeze and some airing out helps shifty.gif

hey andrew thanks for explaining it hah i checked the second day i made the topic and no hits so i forgot about it. i currently have some orisue raw aoi,gap morrisons, and some levis lvc,and some crap loose fitting dc ones. i've only had them for a couple weeks and im working on my orisues currently. when im done im going to buy some apc or nudies. Do you know where to buy them like a little cheaper online?

Its a biggg turn off for "girls" and to alot of people the raw denim idea because of the not washing of the jeans. I dont mind personally like just febreeze them haha.

Jeanna there in style for a particular genre style of people.Mostly sneakerheads that can afford to buy some expensive jeans and the style has caught on with other people that do the same from what i see, myself included haha. But most people dont know abbout it.

Alot of people who do wear selvedge tend to cuff thier jeans, you may have noticed this among some guys. But some people cuff to actually show off thier selfedge jeans while others dont even know and just do it to look cool or fit thier style and there jeans might not even be selfedge and not look like http://xs59.xs.to/pics/05506/img1059647994.jpeg
