Okay, so I just finished Fallout 3, and I pretty much liked it, but now I'm looking for a new PC game to play. (I'm not gonna get one until I actually have a job, but hopefully that's happening soon.)

So what game should I play next? Or better question, what are some good new(ish) games that have come out, that I should check out? With college and all I haven't play games much in the past few years, so I'm kind of out of the loop. What do you guys recommend?

I feel like I should probably offer some guidance on what games I like or what type of game I'm looking for, but...I don't even know, really. I like most games, so any suggestions are welcome.

Portal. It will intrigue you. At least it did for me.

Yeah that was a good game. A bit tricky at times but a lot of fun.

I've heard of this Portal. I think it looks cool. I'll look into it. Can I download it, or do I have to buy a boxed copy?

Hm, maybe. I could get into a sci-fi themed MMO like EVE Online, but I think I've become bored of medieval-themed MMOs.

Already did the WoW thing about four years ago. It was okay, but I don't really want to spend all that money on the expansions right now.

This game is probably popular for sucking, but the updates recently have owned, and the graphics are SCORES better than they were years ago (what people remember it for)

interested?

edit//

and then there's Shaiya. It's impossible to hate Shaiya. The PVP is unbelievable.

edit//

Rappelz was fun for about a year or so (maybe 2.. I didn't exactly count.... It was probably two though because I always guess too little). The game has very unique features that few/no games have except this one. It's a grindfest, though.

If you have Steam, you can download it here:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/400/

Or for 10 dollars more you can get The Orange Box, which includes Half Life 2, HL2: Ep1, HL2: Ep2, HL2: Lost Coast, Peggle Extreme, Portal, And Team Fortress 2.

It would cost you 84.95 to buy them all seperately.

Orange box download:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/469/

If you don't have steam, it's free to register and free to download.

QUOTE
Portal™ is a new single player game from Valve. Set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories, Portal has been called one of the most innovative new games on the horizon and will offer gamers hours of unique gameplay.

The game is designed to change the way players approach, manipulate, and surmise the possibilities in a given environment; similar to how Half-Life® 2's Gravity Gun innovated new ways to leverage an object in any given situation.

Players must solve physical puzzles and challenges by opening portals to maneuvering objects, and themselves, through space.

I actually ended up picking up two games: the SimCity Box, which includes SimCity 4, SimCity 4: Rush Hour, SimCity Societies, and SimCity Societies: Destinations; and the Half-Life 2 Orange Box.

SimCity 4 isn't as good as SimCity 3000, and SimCity Societies is kind of stupid. sad.gif Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 are awesome, though. I haven't played Portal yet.

Ey, photoshop aint a game, it's serious business.

I have to wait to get actual computer back before I play any computer games. I liked sim city 3000, I played 4 previously, I didn't think it was that bad. More interactive imo. I wanna try the new Civilization games, they're looking more cheesy nowadays, but last time I played one was the very first one, I think they've made around 5 new games since then.

You should pick up Dragon Age: Orgins.

I got the game last week. Definitely a lot to do, it's sorta a free-roam RPG, except there isn't a lot to roam. If you don't have a decent computer you'll be stuck at loading screens for more than a minute.

I have The Orange Box (for both PC and Xbox -- just got the Xbox version because my apartment is too small to set up a PC). I never actually played Portal until now, but it's pretty awesome. Relaxing in a strange sort of way, and I like its sense of humor.

Re: the SimCity box, I was underwhelmed. I don't think SimCity 4 is as good as SimCity 3000 -- it's too easy. Of course, I think SimCity 2000 was better than SimCity 3000, so what do I know.

Well, first of all, SimCity 3000 had annoying graphics issues -- namely, it can take f*cking forever to render buildings in a large city, so you get annoying blue cubes instead.

Also, SimCity 3000 cleaned up a few things (like laying power lines, that was a pain in SC2K) but also made the game much harder in an annoying way -- there's a lot more micromanagement that needs to be done. (SC4, on the other hand, swung too far the other way, and removed the need for most micro management.)

Also, I think a lot of the subtle humor of SC2K was lost in SC3K.

Demon's Souls: one of the best dungeon crawlers ever made.
Border Lands: First person version of Diablo. Very fun co-op RPG. Gearbox made the game off the Halo engine.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2: I don't like many of the mainstream competitive FPS these days, but this game is great. Fighting in large, well-designed, destructive environments with so many weapons, vehicles, explosives, classes, and abilities to chose from will keep this game fresh for a long time to come.

I like the way you think _smile.gif

Its definitely way better than Modern Warfare 2.

I have to say that Assassin's Creed 1 & 2, Skate 2, and The Orange Box are good buys.

If you want your GORE, then pick up Gears of War. A lot of blood and body parts flying around. XD.gif
