^ Hahahaha. I'm honestly kind of surprised so many people haven't at least heard of Arcade Fire. They've gotten pretty famous since their Funeral days and have played at MSG and have the back of David Bowie. Guess they are just ignorant.
Huge jaw-drop when they won, of course. It was unexpected for them to even be nominated in the first place, let alone win! Sadly, everyone knows a Grammy win is not indicative of talent at all... |

^ I honestly think if they heard some of the songs from Neon Bible or Funeral, they'd recognize it. I'm not a huge fan, tbh, I get sick of their songs after a few listens, but I'm pretty sure everyone I knew back in high school knew who they were. Maybe the surprising thing is that they're still making music. But that's probably just me, because I haven't really been keeping up with anything new lately. When I heard that Arcade Fire won, my first reaction was "oh hey, I remember those guys" and my second reaction was "... really?"

If the children don’t grow up, our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up. We’re just a million little god’s causin rain storms turnin’ every good thing to rust.
despite it being overplayed in where the wild things are trailer, i could never get sick of this shit |

How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can't even fit inside the building?

How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can't even fit inside the building? LMAO Mel - I wasn't that surprised, though I have been keeping up with them. Their new album really is awesome (better than Neon Bible imo, but still not better than Funeral). I just have to be in a certain mood to listen to them. Also, I had really shitty seats to their concert which ruined them just a little bit for me :( But the Grammy's, ugh all the awards feel so arbitrary. If they're going to dip into the indie pile when nominating, then I honestly feel like there were far better albums this year than The Suburbs. Giving Arcade Fire album of the year is like keeping Pluto as a planet. |

I thought it was kind of strange that Arcade Fire won for album of the year but then were beat by The Black Keys for Alt Album of the year. The only reason I watched parts of it were for the performances. There are only a couple of awards they don't announce way before the show starts, anyways.
