do you go to thrift stores? if so, what thrift stores do you go to?

i like buffalo exchange and rags to riches. except the other day i got this dress from buffalo exchange and i wore it once and the tie part fell off. that made me sad. :( but yeah, i feel bad whenever i go to a consignment or 2nd hand store because i feel like it's supposed to be for the needy, but i just like going to see if i can find any vintage stuff or surprisingly good finds.

I've been to a Buffalo Exchange in NYC and I liked it. Sometimes I'm really just not in the mood to sort through things too much though.

The only thrift stores i ever been to were Michaels, Ross, Kohls, and Belles. It's great to get that feeling when you find something you like, but it's kind of a nuisance to go scavenger hunting for something you want.

I seen stuff on Ebay I like, and I still need to go to other places like Plato's Closet and Tj Maxx...where I could find stuff more fitting for my taste.

oh and do zappos count? :o

Pretty sure he wasn't questioning whether or not you'd been to those places, rather he was questioning that you considered those thrift stores. They're not.

I buy most of my books and some electronics (keyboards, monitors, radios, etc.) from thrift stores; but as far as clothes go, I usually avoid buying anything but jackets from thrift stores.

isn't michaels an arts and crafts store? do you mean marshalls?

those stores are like... discount stuff.

thrift stores are like salvation army or goodwill or whatnot. where people donate (or sell for really cheap) stuff for resale.

it's ok.

I finally went to Plato's Closet and I found a cute red clutch for $5

Now I'm thinking about gathering up whatever I don't wear and selling it

do it.

my friend says its stupid bc you don't get full retail value for whatever, but honestly, if you're never going to wear it again, it's just collecting dust. better to get a few dollars for it than just let it take up space.

I usually go to Goodwill. I got this really nice cream cashmere cardigan for $8. _smile.gif

It's so hard to find nice vintage shoes in my size when thrifting. Etsy all the way throb.gif

It's seriously just like that now. Last time I went, all I saw were things from AA. Buffalo Exchange doesn't have unique pieces anymore. Wasteland > Buffalo, imo.

I've always wanted to go to Out of the Closet too.

There's one on Fairfax about a block or two north from The Grove. And another on Santa Monica Blvd. I also remember seeing one on Ventura somewhere lol.

Oh and there's this other thrift store on Melrose Ave. near Johnny Rockets. Totally blanking out on the name though. It's on a corner and has I think James Dean on the outside wall of the store.

I always find good shit at goodwill. There's a place called pick-of-the-litter that's awesome too.

I think the Buffalo Exchange here is pretty decent. Ironically it's located directly across the street from an American Apparel. I don't really thrift shop that much, but I've been there and from what I remember of AA it's just a bunch of plain colored shirts (v, deep v, etc), jackets with bright white strings, funky swim wear, and shiny jeans.
