How many people use them and which ones?

I love them. Makes my life a tiny bit easier. I have Yahoo! weather, XP Firewall Control, a folding clock that tells the date and time to the seconds, and a zonal clock so I know what time it is at my relatives'.

Funny you should mention this, because I was just thinking about this today. I don't use Yahoo! Widget Engine per se, but I used to use Konfabulator, which is an older version of the same app, before it was bought by Yahoo!. It was originally a Mac-only application, and I've been using it for a long time. I haven't use it lately, because OS X 10.4 has Dashboard now, but I'm considering disabling Dashboard and re-installing Konfabulator, because its implementation of widgets is better than that of Dashboard, in my opinion.

I always used Mini Weather and Mini Calendar, but that was about it. Widgets can consume a lot of resources, so I tried to use as few as possible.

I had Konfabulator since it came out for PC, but I haven't used the upstairs machine in a while. Anyway, I'd have to keep turning it off since it would slow down my games.

I disabled Dashboard and decided to use Konfabulator again, and I rather like it.

Now, if I could only find a way to disable Spotlight…

A screen shooter is also very nifty.

I remember being given a link to info about Konfabulator but I had no idea whatsoever as to what it did. I found it so technical at the time.

I've just googled Spotlight and wow, I'd love to use something like that on a PC. Many of the Dashboard widgets are really neat, but I don't have a Mac. IMO, they look better than the duplicate ones I've seen with Yahoo! widgets.
