Forums _ Technology _ Keeping up with Tech?

Are you the type of person who waits a couple months to buy a certain product or do you buy it instantly?

I skip out on things like iPods or computers, but if it's cameras, tv's, and phones then yeah i'm definitely stoked about that.

not at all. i almost never buy some new technology when it comes out. i don't know why, i just never feel an urge to hurry and get it. maybe cause they always cost more than i want to pay. with ipods i usually end up getting one though. i think i got my touch ipod within the first year it came out. other than that though...pretty slow. i don't even update shit like operating systems on my comp.

i tend to keep everything a long time though. the tv in my bedroom now is the first tv i ever had. i've had it since i was like 8 years old, seriously.

oh yeah and also it just seems like a never ending race to try to keep up. everything is outdated fast now.

I usually wait until the price drops when it comes to game councils/phones/shit like that. The only think I might be like that on is my computer but I am too poor to buy shit for it anyway.

So I would be like that if I had the cash.

i agree that it seems as if it's a never ending race to keep up. the reason i buy things is 'cause i would like it to last for as long as possible. to me, there's no point in investing in something that will be replaced rather quickly.

I get it asap. I figure I'm going to buy it regardless. I'm not going to make interest on the amount I save up for two months, and I'm not going to treat the product like shit and break it early on, so I might as well start enjoying it early.

I don't. I'm not really a "gadget guy", for one thing, so I don't really care to follow up on the latest and greatest in gadgetry. I also only buy tech gadgets when I want them, in which case I may wait for a better model if something is on the horizon soon, but mostly I just buy the stuff when I need it.

Same. And I'm a bargain whore so I rarely get anything when it first becomes available on the market.

Well for me, its based on the brand & type.

Like for phones, I need to be on that since my iPhone contract is going to expire next year and i need to look into the phones that are coming out next year so i know whats up with that... and i buy it instantly if a phone i see is in best form with the camera, processor, UI, and size..

Same w/ me.

I'm always dreaming about the next great thing. I'm also always on the edge of purchasing something. If I hear about a new product that's about to be released I can't purchase what I want until it's been released.

For example: I can't bring myself to purchase a new cell phone even though my contract is up because NVIDIA's quad core Tegra processor is arriving Q4 2011
.

This happens to me all the time. It's frustrating because I need to know I'll be satisfied with my tech for at least 6-7 months. If I see something that's noticeably better than what I have, I get anxious. I few gadgets I'm currently happy with:

1. My PC (It's only a core 2 dou but it's all I need... with my 6970)
2. My TV (It's a Panasonic GT30, this is the first TV I've ever felt truely satisfied with since my first HDTV back in 2003.)
3. Our Laptop (Alienware M11X, wow.. this thing is starting to show age, but it still cooks)
4. My Powertools (I own a duplex, so power-tools are a must. I'm consistently fixing things in that house. I just love buying new tools)
Sometimes I spend money on things I'm not really satisfied with... 3DS... 3DS... *sigh*

I only buy stuff that is completely necessary and then eventually trade it in for something new. First laptop I ever got was crap, 3 years later I got a full cash refund and bought a new better laptop. Year later I got a full cash refund on that laptop and put it towards my macbook pro. It was worth it because I thought of it as an investment.

Besides that I like taking advantage of the fact that I live at home and I save all the cash I make from work. Looking to invest in some CD's or stocks.
