I finished The Stranger. It was boring/pointless until the last chapter. Meursault's confrontation with the priest... that's some good writing, right there. I'll probably re-read the whole thing before I have to turn it in.

Now I'm about to start in on Wuthering Heights.

Oh, JC, to answer your question way back when, I really liked The Prince. It's not something I would have read for pleasure or anything, but his views on how to be a successful ruler, conqueror, etc are pretty interesting. If you haven't read it yet, you should read The Ayatollah Begs to Differ by Hooman Majd. They sound similarly themed and I've enjoyed Majd's book so far.

It's kind of a travelogue but from the point of view of an native Iranian (the author was born in Iran, but spent a lot of time in the West because his parents were diplomats but travels back and forth between Iran). During the course of the book he basically explains Iranian culture and the Iranian mindset to a Western audience.

I know absolutely nothing about Iran, other than they're a perceived threat, so I'll check that out.

The book I'm currently reading explains the differences between Islamic beliefs and fundamentalism. It goes into detail in explaining the motives of extremists and terrorists organization, and what they're trying to achieve politically. He clearly defends his faith and proves how Islam and fundamentalism do not go hand-in-hand. It's very informative and it's allowing me to understand Iraq's culture a hell of a lot better.

Oh man, it's SO INTENSE. I love how complex everything is... and all the characters are pretty f*cked up, which makes it that much more lovable. I do tend to quickly skim through the written documents between chapters, though; some of them just look so boring and unimportant. But overall, it's pretty good so far. i have a problem with interest in fiction too. i like good fiction, i just don't really know how to find good fiction _unsure.gif i read The Devil Wears Prada, and it was nice to get away from non fiction but now i'm stuck again.

my problem with non fiction though is that i can't just pick it up and read it anytime. i have a ton and can always find a ton of non fiction books to read. they take me longer though because i usually don't want to sit down and read 100 pages at a time when i'm reading about "heavy" subjects.

Not exactly reading material, but the last books I've purchased are cookbooks: Vegan with a Vengeance, by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Vegan Soul Kitchen, by Bryant Terry.

I just bought Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility yesterday, so I'm reading that now.

In my opinion that was one of her worst books. I want to hit Marianne.

The new Ember book, People of Spark. I know, a little childish, put such an amazing plot!

Buyology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy by Martin Lindstrom

Not loving it, the guy is sort of full of himself and the answers he has for everything is always, "Oh, it's in the brain! *shock horror*" Yeah okay. I kinda knew that after you explained what neuromarketing was for the third time in ten pages. This book could've been summed up in under 50 pages with a short description of neuromarketing and then, just the strange and interesting findings.

I'm gonna finish it but it's definitely not a re-read cus there's nothing in here that someone who's taken introductory Psychology hasn't already learned.
